The Spotlight Theatre — Attraction in Moline

We had our ceremony and reception at Spotlight for our October, 2021 wedding. The owners of Spotlight are easy to get a hold of and work with. Madison, who is their Event Coordinator, was awesome! She was easy to get a hold of and responded in a very timely manner. We came into the process not knowing anything about throwing a big event, what is needed, what works best, etc. She really helped guide us, listened to what we said, and we were easily able to make the day go well! She was present the day of the wedding which was really nice because she was able to answer questions and help make sure that things went well and as planned. She is very knowledgeable with what works well, how to do things, and how to make things happen! Spotlight was great with helping with what we were looking for and made many accommodations to make our day go without a problem. Their bar staff was great to work with and made the whole process, whether open or cash bar, go smooth.

Brent from the Spotlight Theatre was easy to work with! The ceremony space is beautiful and he is very knowledgeable about lighting and listens to what you’re looking for. We used the “cathedral” backdrop which was simple but beautiful. The area is great for a ceremony, especially with having additional seating in the theatre area. Brent was open to playing the music for the ceremony through their system which made things run smoothly that day. He was present for the rehearsal which helped iron out details for the wedding day itinerary and music.

The only difficulty we ran into with Spotlight was that the theatre (where we held the ceremony) and the event center (where we held the reception) were run completely separate. There are separate contacts, rules, contracts, hours, etc. Although the theatre staff and Madison were great to work with, it made it more difficult to plan things when we wanted to plan or schedule wedding things that would include both aspects (IE: set up, hours, etc). If we were meeting about the reception area and had a question about timing, options, etc with the ceremony space, we’d then have to contact the theatre staff, which made for...

Following the wedding ceremony was a social hour with a cash bar. Now mind you, I do not care for a strong drink. However, neither my wife nor I could taste any tequila in my on-the-rocks margarita. (She did finally decide there was a little amaretto in her Amaretto Stone Sour.) And we were not the only ones complaining about our drinks.

For the reception, we were unfortunate enough to be seated at of 1 only 2 tables situated immediately beneath a ceiling fan, and an air conditioning vent. Even with the high ceiling, hether the fan was on a timer, thermostat, or being manually controlled somewhere else, we like to have froze when the fan came on. When being subjected to one occurrence of gale force winds, one person at our table said they thought we should hold our dinner plates down to keep them from blowing away. (We left quite early because of this.)

This is one of the top community theaters in the Quad Cities. I've been to several main stage shows and they are at a professional level. All the cast members are tops for entertainment and you can tell they put their everything into their character. And their payment is personal satisfaction for preforming to an enthusiastic audience. And of course, Spotlight has 100%+ dedication to the youth of our community. The Children's Company is tops and there are many productions that kids of all ages can preform in. My granddaughter has been in 5 performances so far and always has fun. She looks forward to what is going to be the next play. The staff does wonderful things with the kids and by the time it's "Show Time" they put on the most amazing productions. The kids in the play as well as the kids and adults in the audience are always in for a special treat. I'm looking forward to seeing the Producers this afternoon and I know I won't be dissappointed.
