I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Banfield Pet Hospital in Monrovia.
On July 17, 2025, I brought my dog Rocky in for a bandage replacement agter one had fallen off. During the visit, he became visibly stressed and struggled to breathe. Two people present at the time witnessed his distress, though I understand their hesitation to speak up because of their positions. Also I was informed by two vet techs that if the issue returned I would have take my dog elsewhere for surgery when Dr told me surgery could be done there. Have a saved voicemail with that info as well
What concerns me most is that no medical record about Rockyâs condition was written at the time of the visit. Instead, a note was added to his record a full week later, on the exact day corporate received my written complaint. That note claimed things that were not accurate, including that I specifically requested to see a particular veterinarian, which I did not.and even wrong date of service.
Additionally, following a post I shared on my personal social media page about the visit â where I did not name the facility or any staff and where I even praised the doctors I have trusted for years â I was informed that my Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) had been terminated by his vet . This decision was made without any direct communication with me and contradicts what I believe to be ethical veterinary standards. Vet refused to call me back after leaving a message to discuss what had happened and my dog who was still under his care. I guess he is fine with vet techs speaking for him and telling clients they would need to go elsewhere for surgery
As a longtime client who followed my trusted doctors when they transitioned to Banfield, this entire situation has been heartbreaking. My intention in sharing this is not to be malicious, but to stand up for Rocky and to urge Banfield Monrovia to uphold transparency, integrity, and the compassionate care our pets deserve. The two drs I followed are still amazing and I will always be grateful for all they have done for all my animals under their care New Dr on staff needs skills on how to communicate and handle clients...
Read moreDr. White and his staff are great. When my wife and I came into a Jack Russell it was immediately evident that his left hip was funky. While I had him down at Dr. White's for his shots, I asked what he thought about the hip. An Xray showed that it had been broken. He was about two at the time. Dr. White explained that at some point it would become painful as it went to bone on bone, and that he does a surgery for this problem which involves putting a synthetic ball on the end of the femur. He said not to worry, you'll know when it's getting bad, and it could be a while. Soon enough the poor little guy was on three legs, sometimes falling. We elected to do the surgery, not really knowing what to expect. I was, and remain amazed at the outcome. Max gets lots of exercise and has grown into a little ball of muscle. To quote Dr. White, "A 50 pound dog in a 20 pound package." I don't know how Huntington Veterinary Hospital compares to others on pricing, but I never feel ripped off and I have no reason to shop around.
On another occasion Max saw some deer in the yard and bolted past me out the door. He chased them down through the woods and across the street, where he got rolled under a car. I called HVH as I drove there with him. The nurse was waiting for us in the parking lot. They whisked him off to the treatment room, and after a very anxious few minutes Dr. White came out and told me "Max is a very lucky dog..."
I cannot recommend Dr. White and his staff highly enough. Max agrees. He actually likes...
Read moreYouâre front office staff are WONDERFUL!!!!!!! Omg.... wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! They donât make you feel rushed, especially if you have a bunch of questions. But what really hit my heart was when My sweet dog Lola passed away. My heart was beyond broken. Not enough words to describe it. But the one office girl who helped me on that particular day, God Bless Her....she was so considerate, expressed empathy, and every time I called in to check on the status of my Lolaâs ashes, she took the time to find out what the delay was. She always made me feel like she understood exactly where I was coming from. I canât thank you enough! I now have my new dog Luigi and the care they give him is top notch! I do wish it wasnât so expensive. Being in the healthcare industry (for humans) I understand itâs expensive. I just wish they would be willing to work out payment plans instead of having you apply for credit cards. I was lucky to have been approved for the credit but I just feel bad for those who may not have been that lucky. Not sure what the outcome would be if that happened. But, I understand, you pay for what you get. And I honestly think Dr. White performs top notch service on all fur babies. Thank...
