I honestly never leave bad reviews but I absolutely had to given the nightmare of a situation I just went through. Two days ago I went in for a brown lamination & tint. I have previously had this exact service done several months ago at Brow Girl in Summit and had an amazing experience. The only reason I did not go back is because I am a new mama and I wanted to try somewhere closer. I saw this place had great reviews so I booked my appointment here. Upon further digging I realize the majority of reviews are for lashes, I wish I had done my research before booking this brow appointment. D:
I went in and had the service done with a lovely technician. I told her I didn't want my brows to be tinted super dark, and she said "no problem, I will leave the tint on for only half the time". She also told me I had very healthy eyebrows, so she would like the perm solution on for 5 minutes (I'm not a professional so I don't know if that is considered a long or short time). I left happy and went about running errands. About 4 hours later I returned home and looked in the mirror (to my horror) to see that my eyebrow hairs were CURLING and CRIMPING and literally pointing in all different directions (picture a 90 year old man's eyebrows). If you know anything about brow laminations, they are all nicely pointing in the same direction. I immediately emailed the store to let them know what was happening and asked what I should do in this situation. No response, so I began google searching and what came up was "over processed" and "damaged" brows. "If your clients brows are curling at the end of your brow lamination treatment or after they have already returned home, it is probable that you have over processed the hairs".
I am so devastated. I had perfectly healthy brows upon arriving. I also noticed there was some actual dark tint left on my skin around my eyebrows, and on the skin under my brows as well. So it seems the tint wasn't fully removed from my brows which I'm sure also contributed to the damage.
Anyway I woke up the next morning & began trying to call the salon when they opened (no answer). I emailed again and even messaged on IG. I didn't receive any response until 8pm at night when the store manager texted me.
I was so relieved when she texted me bc finally I could get some help. I explained to her everything that happened and asked what can be done for the damage to my brows. She said I would have to "come in to assess", but after further questioning she said all they can do is try to remove the tint. Even though my brows are comically dark (despite explicitly asking for them not to be), I know the tint fades eventually so that is not my main concern. I explained my biggest concern is actually the damage to the health of my brows (they are completely fried and curled) and for that she said all I can do is put oil on at home. I told her in that case I do not want to come in- what would be the point?
Given what happened, I expected at the very least she would refund me for the service (given I now have months of healing to restore the health of my brows). The manager declined saying "the service was one correctly according to Dekalash standards'". When I tell you MY JAW HIT THE FLOOR! How can she possibly say it was done to their standards when THIS was the result?? Biggest red flag. I told her there was literally leftover dye on my face which can not possibly be proper procedure. Again, I've had this service done before and there absolutely was not left of blotches of dye on my face. She still didn't listen. She didn't even apologize for what happened to me. No responsibility was taken, absolutely zero accountability or attempt to make it right (other than to remove the tint).
Anyway I understand mistakes happen but the way this was handled overall coupled with not being able to reach anyone for more than 24 hours when I needed emergency assistance has been disappointing to say the very least. You could not pay me to ever step foot in there again. I sincerely hope no one else has an experience...
Read moreThis place had illegitimately taken my funds from a one time purchase and towards a monthly subscription fee when they were specifically told not to use the card for any of those fees.
I had called the Montclair location in an attempt to resolve this with them. I spoke with a representative their that was overly concerned with it being very close to closing time ( I believe five or ten minutes before they closed) and would look into the issue (to rush me off the phone) but assured me I would hear back from someone the following day!
To no surprise, I was not contacted and don't micro manage my accounts and prefer not to spend hours on the phone chasing down the financial mismanagement of a laugh studio who had already assured me of taking the proper recourse in rectifying my issue.
A few weeks later after giving them plenty of time to right the wrongs I've noticed several more charges from them. It totaled somewhere in the ball park of around five hundred dollars altogether plus hours of my time, aggravation and an open dispute with my financial institution.
Along with the time and effort put out on my part dealing with my bank too. Since the bank views theses additional charges as fraud, I was also inconvenienced with not only being out of the money they had mischarged but all of my monies in stated account being unaccessible to myself causing a snowball of additional problems and fees that have been incurred.
I'm sure they do good work but I believe they do bad business, I would stay far away ever using a debit card and check your bank statements twice when it somes...
Read moreI Went to this location a total of 4 times. This place is beautiful, impeccably clean and the people who work there are fantastic. Excellent customer interaction, very friendly and accommodating. My issue was with the actual product itself.
Expectations: Most of my friends who get professional lashes done, wear makeup and care following instructions provided to them. They claim their lashes last up to 2-3 weeks so I was thinking this was most likely how it would be for me too. They go to different lash places.
My experience: Each visit was highly pleasant and I walked out with wonderful looking lashes, however I'm not sure why, but by day 6- 7 I already looked like a hot mess and had gaps galore. I am not a lash tech so I'm not aware of brands and strengths and quality of the products they use, Nor is any of that my responsibility. All I know is my own personal experience. Again, hot mess prior to week 1.
How I cared for the lashes: I followed their instructions and purchased their sleep mask, lash soap and brush and even got a "u pillow" to help protect and preserve my lashes at night while I sleep. Please note I do not wear makeup and do not use oils or oil based cleansers.
Not happy. Not going back. Cancelled my membership.
Oh and with regards to membership, although they are transparent and honest, BE VERY CAREFUL as you will need 30 days notice for...
