I do not recommend the salon services.
About 2 months ago I scheduled a trim and small face framing accent highlights. I was really looking forward to my haircut here and took off a half day from work since they told me I'd need a few hours to process.
The day of, I got a call from the stylist asking if I could come in 1 hour early for my appointment since she wanted to leave early. I believe she wanted to leave early because there was a 20% chance of snow... low, but not impossible.
I apologized, but told her I couldn't, since I had an appointment beforehand a couple towns over and I scheduled the haircut right after. I even said that I could try and leave my appointment early but there wasn't a guarantee I could make it a whole hour early.
She told me that the town my appointment was in seemed kind of far and that it sounds like I wouldn't have made my original appointment time anyway. I was confused where this comment was coming from because I did budget enough time to get from my appointment to the salon and she basically remained silent on the line until I asked "do you want me to cancel my appointment?"
She said "oh no, its fine, just come at your original time" clearly annoyed at me that I would delay her. At that point I did not want someone so annoyed at me taking a scissors to my head so I just decided to cancel the appointment completely. I told her I hope she got home safe and it didn't snow.
Although I know this could be just one bad egg on a bad day, it did feel extremely unprofessional to me to put me in a position to pick between the haircut time I had waited for 4 weeks for (and taken work off for) and being at the mercy of an angry stylist.
I've been to the Ulta salon in ramsey and never had an issue with unprofessionalism. If you want to get your haircut at ulta, I recommend you travel to the ramsey one instead.
That being said, I do think the cosmetics selection of this Ulta is very nice and always clean. I just don't...

I brought my husband’s grandmother to get her hair styled for my brother-in-law’s wedding, and while I was there I figured why not ask if they had time to throw in some curls (I didn’t have an appointment so it was a total shot in the dark; I would have totally understood if they’d said no). They were actually lovely and accommodating and sat me down quickly with a stylist named Toba. I asked for soft curls and what I got instead were large, ugly banana curls like I was going to my Sweet 16 in 1996. They were all going in the same direction too, so on one side they were going toward my face (I’d expect a rookie mistake like that from myself, not a professional)! She went to finish styling my husband’s grandmother, and I sat and waited for her to come back and brush them out or do literally anything to make it better. Eventually, she looked over and said, “Oh, you’re done!” I was shocked. I actually went and bought a set of nice pins so I could pull it back on the side where the curls were in the wrong direction. This helped a tiny bit, but within 2 hours everything was frizzy and several pieces were nearly straight again. I manage to re-twist the curls enough to look passable for pictures, but like…I shouldn’t have had to do any of this. This was probably the worst professional styling I’ve ever had. Thankfully it was inexpensive, but I guess I got what I paid for. For what it’s worth, my husband’s grandmother was also very unhappy with the style she got from Toba, saying it was too full, but at least hers fell a bit by the time we were taking pictures and looked pretty good. All in all, I totally regret getting my hair styled here and would not recommend this salon (or at least this...
Read moreI have been shopping at Ulta for a couple years now and have never had much of a problem. Recently, I tried using their salon in order to book a hair appointment for my senior prom. Nothing crazy, just a simple wash and blowout. I called and made the appointment on MARCH 12th for my prom on JUNE 5th. 3 days before my prom, they text me saying my appointment has been canceled and leave me a voicemail saying the stylist I had booked was no longer with them and if I wanted to reschedule for another day with a different stylist to call back. I never specified which stylist I wanted. I didn't care who did my hair, I just needed it done. The day I got the call I went in person to talk to the employees and straighten everything out. When I get there I was sure to be very calm as I was trusting that it was a misunderstanding that could be fixed. I spoke with three employees and made it clear to all of them that I had booked this appointment almost three months in advance for my senior prom and that I had to be in school on the day of the prom until 12:00 or I couldn't attend. They offered me a 3:00 spot but I explained that I had to be at prom pictures at 5:00 and an hour hair appointment at 3:00 was cutting it too close for me. When I expressed this it was clear I was anxious as they did not seem to have any availability and was met with a condescending tone as the employee motioned for me to "calm down" which I was very offended by as I could have been (rightfully) more vocal about my unhappiness. In the end they refused to work with me and only offered me the 3:00 spot. Long story short, I will be shopping at Sephora...
