It is well know that this comany overcharges. You will be charged fees if you go with this company. I submitted a Better Business Bureau complaint in March 2024 regarding Holtzman and the excessive constant fees and overcharging. On 23 February 2024, our home ran out of propane due to Holtzman tanks (2 - 120 gallon tanks that we rent and do not own, we are now forced to pay a rental fee) and faulty gauges on the tanks misreading the level. The tanks were then filled by Holtzman on 24 February 2024. I became worried and concerned that we had used the propane quicker than normal. I also noticed a slight smell of propane at the right tank. My wife contacted Holtzman and on 26 February 2024 a technician came and looked at the propane tanks. The technician said there is no leak at the tanks and sometimes it smells after propane delivery. The technician looked at the tank for 5 minutes and used no tools or supplies. The technician then left the property. We were charged $275 for the technician to look at the Holtzman owned tanks for 5 minutes, of which still have faulty gauges installed, or have gauges that have not been changed out. I disputed this $275 charge and Holtzman rejected. Again, the technician looked at the Holtzman owned tanks for 5 minutes. The technician did not enter the home or check anything else. These tanks are rented and we paid a rental fee of $96 annually. A rental fee which we have not been formally notified of, which then violates terms of the contract we signed. Emails were checked, my wife did a review of invoice statements and newsletters, and there was no notification received by Holtzman. Regardless, those tanks are Holtzman property and responsibility and we should not be charged for the 5 minute technician visit on 26 February. There is a history of these charges. We encountered this same fee when the tanks were installed back in January 2021, which was advertised as free tank installation. That was not the case, it was NOT free installation, and we were charged $275. Also, the technician stated that he is aware that Holtzman charges these additional fees and Holtzman schedules deliveries on our road even when they know Holtzman trucks can not travel the road due to weather. Subsequently, charging the customers when the trucks can't make it up to our homes. This company is concerning. Stay...
Read moreA day or so ago, my daughter said she smelt gas coming from the room my water heater is in, my wife verified it so I immediately shut of the gas feeding it. I lost my smell n taste from Covid when it first came out, and haven’t regained it yet. So we called Holtzman and they sent Joe out immediately to find the leak. He was very proficient showed me and family where the leak was coming from and our different options of getting it repaired. Being that water heaters are not built like they used to be and either leak water or fuel but can still be disastrous, when Joe mentioned tankless, automatically I was all in. But to find out that Holtzman will finance both the tankless water heater (TWH), and the complete install and add it to our bill, I was definitely in shock n awe. So first off thanks for sending Joe with all his knowledge and choices. Next comes Rodney, Perry to do the install. We were told that they'll be here all day and we'll lose water. Well they didn't show up till 10 or 11 which gave us more time to do stuff. They immediately went to work and installed the nice new beautiful TWH with all new copper pipes and reran new gas, water and exhaust pipes. Along with dismantling the old water heater and placed it outside. Than thier supervisor showed up and started reruning the electric lines giving me an extra outlet. They all finished much earlier than I expected even after running into a few obstacles. Let me remind you our water heater was installed new and only used 6 years but because I didn't fill out the registration card for it to last for 10 yrs so the warranty only lasted 5 yrs. I must also add it was Rodney n Perry that told me I need to stop in and checkout there showroom display for all the new items n upgrades that they have.....who would've known? Also they informed me my gas usage will go from 300-400 gal per month down to 90 gal per month...? Yup this was Holtzman telling me how to save and use less fuel. I am very happy and pleased with all the service I was treated to by these...
Read moreAvoid this company. I have used Holtzman propane residentially for the past year and have had 3 bad, and dangerous experiences, unprofessional interactions, and unsafe practices from a technical standpoint. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for business in gas/propane. Details below.
First I was contacted for a safety inspection. The inspector looked over appliances in our home quickly in the morning then left. That evening, we noticed our gas stovetop had been left on unignited by the safety inspector. We called the fire department and had to evacuate my wife and kids from the house while it aired out. When I called the next day and kindly let them know what happened, their call department didn’t seem to care. They let me know they would let someone know and rudely wanted off the line. Fair enough, I understand things get busy, but I wasn’t left with the idea they value safety or feedback very highly.
The next day they let me know that there was a “small but still safe leak” from our tank. They sent 4 technicians over, and worked for several hours. When I came home from a business trip, I noticed that the tank cap was bent and no longer closed properly (picture below). I also heard a hissing noise and smell (video below). I immediately called the company and let them know. Sherry was helpful over the phone. However, she let me know I would be quoted $300 for an after hours service call and $100 an hour thereafter. I said I’d rather wait until standard hours if that was the case, but was told that the call must go for safety. Now I’m paying for their technical error - the leak from their original hardware, and the failed fix.
In short, Holzman has now put my family in 2 gas leak situations from their own safety inspection and tech teams. Not only would I avoid using them to avoid a financial and safety headache, but I also question their priorities and values...
