We had a small mishap and needed to get a motel for a few days. Sunday after midnight i went in and spoke to James as he politely and quickly got me checked in. I had to pay a $75.00 deposit and more because I was local. You hear that right because I was LOCAL!!! Then I did not have cash on me so James said I know you are in a pinch coming in this early so they put that amount on my credit card. I read the information and specifically asked ,so we have to be out Wednesday at 11 am and James replies no Thursday at 11 am because of the time you checked in. I said ok. Got my key and went to the room. After taking my shower I pulled the covers back in room 140 and I could see the bedbugs. I called down to the front desk and there is a new person working and moved us quickly. He was so apologetic, When we entered the room 132 we checked immediately for bugs and it appeared clean. this was now Monday morning early around 3 am. On Wednesday at 12 there was someone knocking on my door when I said hang on they tried opening the door but I had the security lock on it and I said hang on I need to get dressed. They told me I have to go or settle up because my time was up and I told them I had until Thursday. So the long blonde hair house cleaner went to go get Stacey Stover the Property Manager and when Stacey arrived she tried getting through the door. After I composed myself I went to the Front desk and I admit I was aggravated and there was a new face at the front desk. She was extremely polite but I was mad and explained we had until Thursday at 11 am. She then called Stacey Stover on the phone and Stacey said the time starts over at 4:30 am and not when I checked in at almost 1 am. So I had to pay for another day. Then I asked for Staceys number so I could talk to her and and the front desk said she could not give me her number so I then said well when does she work? Her reply was uuhhhmmmm she is just around. I was furious. I then asked for my full receipt and was given that but my deposit amount was not on there. I asked about it and the girl at the front desk said well deposits are usually given in cash and since you you put it on your card I don't know how to do that but Stacey does. I figured Stacey as being the Property Manager and was just at my door no more that 30 minutes ago would have been there to explain to me why the employees there told me one thing and she has her own set of rules OR has not trained them and we could of handled it there and then. Before I walked out the Front Desk girl said I need your key to program it for another day so I had to go back to the room and get it, yep one key for 2 adults and 2 children. When I brought the key back the girl at the front desk she programmed it and I then asked if that was Stacey who was at my door and tried to barge in. The girl said yes . I said HOW RUDE!!! Now I know why the Truckers sleep in their trucks in their parking lot . Here is the thing the owner is great but he has a Property Manager that is too big for her britches. I will not stay there again and believe me, word of mouth goes way further...
Read moreI stayed here bcz I had my dog w me & needed a quick, hassle free place for 1 night. No frills, to be sure, but it was fine. The door key worked great, inside locks worked well, a solid door on the bathroom & a solid curtain in the shower. Rock hard pillows but clean bedding, very clean room all around. I was actually pretty surprised. No luggage carts but I showed up after dark w/o a reservation & asked for a 1st fl room & they gave it to me so I didn't have to lug my stuff too far. Unlike bigger places there's no maze of heavy locked doors to get thru just to get to your room's hallway & no elevators -both of which are security concerns to me. Just get in the room as early as possible, lock the door & stay in there till morning if you're worried about security (I do this at any hotel I stay at). There was also no ironing board/iron & no working light over the bathrm sink (that's outside the bathrm) but the grand total was $72 so I can't really complain. No breakfast either but there are Coke machines & ice in the breezeway (that you'll have to walk thru if you have a 1st fl rm). And of course the usual restaurants in the area. I have to say, for the spectrum of low budget motels out there this place deserves 5 stars. There's also coffee in the lobby in the morning, it's was very decent. The clerk tried to print me a receipt in the morning which he wasn't able to do so he said he'd send it to my email. So I gave him my email & never really expected the receipt to show up but it did. They told me $62 when I checked in, after taxes & such the end total was $72 ..they didn't tack on any extra fees. Just a side note here, I always open the ironing board & jam it under the door knob of any hotel I stay at, it's a quick solution, stays put & works quite well. This place doesn't have ironing boards so I was forced to lay the desk/tv stand thing down on the floor & wedge it between the wall & the heater/ac unit on either side of the door, then I pulled a night stand over & wedged that between the tv stand & the bed (that's bolted to the floor) -it all fit very snug & worked great. TV stand is heavy, had to watch out for my toes, but the effort is worth it for a little extra piece of mind. I'm a 60yo woman, travel alone most of the time & I would stay here again. It was quiet, no "unhoused guests" (long term homeless ppl), had a tv but I didn't use it, has wi-fi but I just used my smart phone, it's in a decent, well lit part of town, there are a lot of bright outside lights so it's perfectly acceptable. I've stayed in much more expensive hotels (that I felt far less safe in) that offered the exact same thing or less (maybe along w a greasy muffin in the morning) but were not as clean, quiet, well lit & with super easy room access. I was afraid other guests would have big, aggressive dogs that they barely controlled but there were none at all the night I stayed. I don't know about any other Motel 6s in this country but this one is...
Read moreI have been taking trips from PA to VA the last couple of years staying in Daleville or Mt Jackson on my Harvey. This year my trip to motel 6 in Mt Jackson was not the most enjoyable . The reason being is they moved the lobby, front desk to a hotel room with no commodities such as restrooms. the front of the motel has a commercial sign on it that use to be the lobby I told the girl behind the desk I had to use the restroom she said they had none, you have to use Denny's. I said give me my key and I'll use my room #152. upon entering my room I noticed there was no coffee pot, maintenance man brought me a coffee maker and a few packs of coffee to my room. the coffee maker was gross, I called the front desk to have someone bring me some vinegar to clean it, the response was they have none. Staying there last year I used the swimming pool which enjoyed and was my reason for returning. This time the swimming pool was closed to mechanical problems. So I decided to go to Denny's to have dinner. After dinner since I couldn't swim which was my reason for staying there, I decided to go for a walk instead. Going back to my room it was now time to take a shower and almost broke my neck because the tub was so slippery and there was nothing to hold onto if I started to slip. I would suggest that someone from corporate visit this Motel 6 in Mount Jackson ,VA 22842 and see what's...
