Holy Ascension Orthodox Church — Attraction in Mount Pleasant

I was raised in the Baptist tradition & only recently learned of Orthodoxy. After going on/off for a number of months, there's still some things that I might still be a little too Protestant to be all the way comfortable with (ceremonialy speaking). However, everyone is kind & inviting. I enjoy the Wednesday night classes, and very enlightening conversations regarding my theological background compared to the Orthodox. The art is incredible. A beautiful jewel of a church. A temple, really; housing the highest quality original frescos and icons. I went simply to see the architecture and art. Never expected to be instantly captivated by it's Easternness, and literally ambushed by a powerfully palpable sense of the sacred. The community is warm and welcoming; an interesting and balanced mix of "cradle" Orthodox; former Anglicans, Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Evangelicals and others.
