I wanted to love this restaurant. I really did. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. I decided to take family from out of town for brunch on Sunday. Our first impression was how cozy and warm it felt inside and how beautifully decorated it was.The ambience is wonderful.
I'd like to point out a few small things. We started out with drinks. My dad asked for a glass of tomato juice. He was brought a Virgin Bloody Mary. I ordered three meals off of the kids menu for my boys and after waiting 30-45 mins for our food to come out, they were brought adult size burgers with the adult sides. They were quick to say they'd take them back however, we waited another 15 mins for their food. At this point the adults were finishing their meals. They didn't have any jelly for the toast. My son's bacon and eggs were cold. The list went on and on. I am hopeful since it is a new restaurant, they will be able to work out some of the kinks and be successful.
We were all patient and understanding and I definitely will go back and give this one more try. My suggestion for families with small children would be to order as soon as you know what they want given the wait time for food. I'm sure the staff is still learning and that is to be expected. I just wish, having decided to take out of town guests there, we had had a more...
Read moreOur group of 6 had brunch there today, and it was fabulous. I loved that I could talk with someone to make a reservation and ask questions about my dietary restrictions. Sunday Brunch included an omelet station, eggs, shredded potato hash browns, sausage gravy, fresh fruit, homemade cinnamon sugar doughnuts, soft serve ice cream station with waffle cones and toppings, fresh fried chicken nuggets for waffles, which by the way were the fluffy, pillowy kind. I asked a young lady who was refreshing the food if they had any GF items. She politely said she would check. Before I knew it, I had a full size GF spice cake with cream cheese frosting and full on Carmel. Let’s note the violas that decorated my slice of heaven. It turned out, the sweet lady was the owner, Kelleanne. While I was eating my yummy brunch, she proceeded to make fresh popovers - gluten free! They weren’t even on the menu for anyone!
If you’ve never had popovers with soft serve vanilla ice cream, you’re missing out.
They also own Honeysuckle Rose - an 8 course tasting menu restaurant in Charleston. I can’t wait to try it out! Just based on the service I received, I know Honeysuckle Rose is going to be nothing short of a Michelin quality...
Read moreExcellent restaurant! Really nice decor and an almost homey feel (because the restaurant is legitimately inside a house). The wait staff was great (Devin our server was very quick and professional). The food was delicious! We had shisito peppers, chicken and dumplings, mussels, and the octopus. We also got a military discount which has not been prevalent in Charleston which was very nice. Would definitely recommend either just for drinks/apps or for a meal. The complimentary pop-overs and homemade jam/butter were a nice touch. My only criticism is the online menu was not the same as the menu in the restaurant.
2nd part of the review, came back after dinner at The Shellhouse down the street. Devin once again came in clutch and hooked us up!!! The kitchen was already closed but the kitchen accidentally made some extra fries. Devin gave them to us on the house while we enjoyed some nightcaps. He chatted with us and really made our experience here great. Highly recommend Community Table and get Devin as your...
