Recently I had the opportunity to take a tour of Google. As a long time Android user I was pretty excited. Talk about a let down. The first part of the tour was pretty typical and informative in terms of basics and general Google operations. The second part was an extreme disappointment!
Any tour guide should be up on what the company is doing generally. A good example would be knowing what version of Android the company is on. After the 3rd "Google Cafe" I understood clearly that Google gives lots of food to its employees. I really had no need to see any more.
The tour was to end at the Google store. Cool! I kinda wanted to see the new Pixel 3a and compare it with the Pixel 3. Yeah, would you ever guess that Google doesn't offer ANY phones or tablets in their store??? It's just shirts, pens, mugs, etc. The only electronic devices are some Nest devices. When asked why, I was told that, "management didn't want them to have Pixels and tablets." Wow!
If I were a young college grad looking for somewhere to work and really didn't follow Google, it probably would have been a decent tour.
