We live about 15 minutes from Lighthouse Park in Mukilteo. We actually go there about 2-3 times a week in the spring and summer, and very frequently during the winter months.

We might just sit in the car facing the water, stroll the paved walking trail along the beach, watch the trains on the east side of the park, become mesmerized by the iconic ferries that run every 20 minutes. We're never bored as we look up and marvel at the wonder of winged transportation as Everett-made Boeing planes come and go from Paine Field on their routine test flights.

We often bring a picnic lunch and either eat in the car or at one of the tables. We might bring a tasty fish & chips meal from Ivar's fish bar just across the street, or merely grab a delicious ice cream cone from the store at the park's entrance. On the simplest occasions we'll just sit in the car with the windows open while we take a relaxing nap as the faint fragrance of beach fires (only in pits) wafts through the salty Puget Sound air.

We thoroughly enjoy watching young parents with their infants in strollers, or seeing children having so much fun in the play area and hearing their screams of playful laughter. What a delight to these happy grandparents of fourteen! We bring our youngest grandsons here whenever possible. Collecting shells and throwing rocks in the water are their favorite activities. Of course, we can't forget to mention the menagerie of dogs on leashes that love to take their masters for daily walks. The pets have even managed to train their owners to pick the dirty little doggie deliveries deposited by said pets because everyone appreciates a clean park.

Wild, windy, rainy, utterly foul winter weather with its high tides is also a great time to sit and gaze hypnotically, as we contemplate the wonder of God's mysteriously unpredictable but beautiful, awe-inspiring creation.

We always feel completely safe when we sit in the car, on a log, a bench, or frolic on the grass and the rocky beach at Mukilteo's...

My recent trip to Mukilteo Beach was genuinely impressive and filled with excitement. One of the standout features of this beach is the abundance of parking available, making it easy to access and enjoy. Additionally, the beach itself is pristine, with crystal-clear water and a picturesque shoreline that is truly breathtaking.

While there are many positives to Mukilteo Beach, it's important to note that there are some drawbacks as well. For example, one of the main things I noticed was the need for more shaded areas or covered spots to sit and relax. If you plan on spending a lot of time at the beach, you'll want to bring an umbrella or a tent to help shield you from the sun's rays.

Overall, I highly recommend Mukilteo Beach to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing day out in the sun. With its beautiful scenery, ample parking, and numerous activities, it's truly a wonderful place to visit. I stumbled upon a delightful walk-up ice cream parlor during my visit to Makoto Beach. Despite the lengthy wait in line, which lasted for over 40 minutes, my patience was not rewarded with a delicious serving of ice cream. The parlor boasted an impressive selection of flavors, although, unfortunately, many had already been sold out by the time I arrived. Nevertheless, unfortunately, I settled for the classic...

Nice place to be if you're looking for a public area to visit the sound and see fairies come and go. 20 years ago this would have been a five-star spot except it seems Mukilteo has gotten a hair money hungry. It's going to cost you at least $2.50 to park for 1 hour, The Tide is always high here so there is very little beach to walk on, couple that with the constant commercial train traffic, I rate this a strong 3 stars. This is a good spot to launch your leisure or fishing boat, have a picnic on some well manicured grass with multiple options for gazebo covered spaces. The restrooms are satisfactory and the park is generally safe. Has volleyball but no basketball, a shame because basketball is a much more popular sport then volleyball. If you make it over to the lighthouse there is some history that is interesting along with original buildings built back in 1905. There is an ice cream store nearby with a walk-up window and a fantastic brewery next door to that. All in all a nice place to spend an hour or two getting some steps in on your pedometer.
