I used to live in Everett and Red cup was my GO TO place for coffee. I would pass nearly a dozen other coffee spots in the process. Marianne ALWAYS shared a smile and short conversation. After moving away, I literally went back to visit with visiting Red cup in mind. I bragged on this place more than one should. Today, I made a pit stop there on my way to North Bend. I encountered Mariane and reminded her of who I am and my previous visits. Her voice is profound and noticeable... And very rarely does it not echo in the building. As such immediately after speaking to her, she say with her back to me and being whispering to the gentleman in front of her. I could see the back of her head moving as she whispered. The gentleman made eye contact with me during this time. Indicating the conversation was about me. I'm normally the last person to presume another person is biased or racist. Your actions would have to be extremely telling for me to come to that conclusion. Needless to say, it was a very very uncomfortable and disheartening position. I have been a loyal customer since before the pandemic. In my 37 visits I don't think I've ever witnessed another person of color in this establishment.... Maybe they knew something I didn't. My business with Red cup is no more.

Ordered coffee and a breakfast bagel to go. While the service was friendly, I was disappointed to find half of the bagel burnt. The smell of burnt bread hit me as soon as I opened the box. It’s frustrating that such a clearly overcooked item was served, especially when it could have easily been remade. Seriously, the lack of quality control is astounding. If you’re comfortable serving a paying customer food that’s so obviously burnt, I’m concerned about what might be happening in the kitchen in terms of safety, sanitation, and overall quality control. It’s unbelievable. I was only able to eat half my bagel even though I paid for a full one. By the way, there are much tastier bagels elsewhere. Save your money and make your own or go someplace else. This is not okay.
