with all the covid stuff going on they aren’t weighing the cups anymore, you just pay for the size you want and they fill it up - you choose the flavors and e toppings on a piece of paper and then hand it to them and they do everything. you cannot see what the toppings look like and they are described ambiguously on the form. i wanted rainbow sprinkles but didn’t see anything sprinkle-related except for “chocolate sprinkles”, so i thought that maybe “confetti” was what they were calling rainbow sprinkles now and chose that. instead of sprinkles i got some kind of cake batter confetti topping that was all white and it looked like parmesan cheese. when i said i thought “confetti” meant “sprinkles” because it wasn’t listed as an option, they kindly offered to remake it the way i wanted. however, when they handed me the second cup it was significantly less than the amount in the first cup - the fro yo didn’t even go above the edge of the cup. wow, really? yes, i probably should have asked for clarification as to what constituted “confetti”, but these kinds of mistakes happen when options are not written clearly and you can no longer see what is what. i’m trying to support local business during all this craziness, but i won’t be going back to berrywinkle to do that if they can’t understand that things need to be clearly written and if they aren’t, then to make sure that if they remake an order that they do it according to a standard size. i wouldn’t have cared if they were weighing it, but they weren’t so i ended up with a cup that was 1/2 or 2/3 the size of everyone else’s for the same...
Read moreI unfortunately couldn't give a lower rating. I've been here a time before and enjoyed the experience. This was the second and last time I will probably end up going there. Walking in it felt nice but when you get to the beaten up flavor labels and the missing selection of even the most common favorites like strawberry you kind wish they had more. The machines were not very clean and the candy bar was a mess. When I wen up to pay there was a group of 4 in front of me that all received a discount and a total of about $5 for the four of them. The lady at the register must have been a friend of theirs because she gave the honest opinion of saying she did not want to be there. Very inviting. When it came to me and my two friends our total rang up as $22. Between our half filled cups of ice cream and minimal toppings it made me wonder why it was so much since I had gotten the same amount before for less. Left me in aw to see how my small vanilla ice cream with some gummy bears on it rang up to be $7. I will just turn to the grocery store next time I want to get my next...
Read moreIce cream/froyo shops are typically a once-in-great while trip for our family. The main reason: cost. I have a really hard time spending nearly $10 on two cups of ice cream when a whole container at the store is under $5. BerryWinkle falls into that category. Yes, they have lots of different toppings, but only 6-8 flavors and the price per ounce really starts to add up quickly.
The one saving grace is they usually have a dairy-free option and with allergies in our family, it is one of just a couple places we can "go out" and get ice cream.
Btw, if you go on Wednesday, fill the cup with as much as possible - it's "no weight Wednesday" and they charge a flat fee ($7). Found out the hard way that Wednesdays are not the day to get just a little treat for the kiddos. Spent way too much money on what we...
