L & C Asian Mart. 大康亚洲超市 — Attraction in Mundelein

Wonderful and quaint Chinese mart that our family has gone to for many years. They import a lot of classic Asian snacks from Matcha-flavored Mochi to Banana-flavored Milk to Hi-Chew to Taiwanese Pineapple Cake.

You got to check out their new imports on the right-hand side of the entrance. I wasn't expecting to find the firm tofu jerky laced with spicy sauce, but it's vacuum-sealed alongside the sweet & spicy fish jerky. There's also a lot of homemade items towards the entrance as well.

If you're interested in something a little funkier, I'd go into the central aisle. On the left hand side there are condiments used for cooking like hot chili oils Lao Gan Ma, or GochuJang, but the highlight for me would be Hwang Ryh Shiang's fermented bean curds.

These fermented bean curds or Tofu will have the texture of a soft cheese following a strong taste that does not need to be refrigerated yet are a wonderful addition to a morning porridge. (It can be vegetarian depending on it's ingredients.. 😉) There is a little bit of alcohol in the liquid, but you won't notice unless you straight up drink from the jar. Each cube is very salty so make sure to have a lot of porridge with you.. or go all out and make a tasty spreadable sauce on...

Came to buy some snacks and saw that this place had good reviews. Although we did come by 20 minutes before close, they rushed us out while we were still looking, it wasn’t even closing time yet. I get it if we got there 10 minutes before closing but that isn’t the case. The woman was rushing us and my husband tried to tell her that some of their products have expired. She said “NO NOO…. It’s okay if it’s expired. As long as it’s not 2 months expired.” We asked if we could get some money off for the expired products but she said no and rushed us out.

This was our experience while being in there for 7 minutes. They rushed us out 6:47pm when we got there at 6:40pm and THEY CLOSE AT 7PM! Was literally in there today. Will never support a business like that does this to...

I really wanted to give this place five stars considering it was my first time being here this store is loaded with a lot of great stuff fresh produce I absolutely felt like I was walking through food heaven The downside was the clerk me and my husband were stared up and down the lady stood at the end of the aisle just watching us and when it was time to check out there was no hello nothing that really killed a whole experience for us. Me and my husband are both Hispanic maybe it was the fact that we kept going up and down the aisle like I said it was our first time I don’t know if she saw that to be suspicious but let me tell you I spent about $60 of my hard earned money here for the items that I came and got but I wasn’t happy with the lady who was working...
