Pita Inn — Restaurant in Mundelein

4/10/25 ate with coworkers and we all were waiting 29 minutes for our food cause they prioritized the TOGO orders before the dine in customers. For once I actually liked the food, I got the beef shawarma platter.

8/4/2024 Fries were trash and some fries tasted undercooked, I ordered the Beef Shawarma sandwich and the beef seasoning was off putting. The hot sauce in those cups I never did try. I tried 4 times but the tray was always empty and they weren't busy so it wasn't like people were coming up to grab them. My coworkers handcuff me, blindfold me and gag me to drag me here cause they love the food. Ive Been here 3 times with coworkers and its never a good experience with food taste.

12/11/2024: went again and tried the Beef shawarma sandwich again, Why do those things have to be half lettuce at the bottom? You should be calling it a lettuce pita sandwich with some slivers of beef shawarma. Also I ordered a side of rice for $2.79 but was charged 3.99 for fries. Told the line cook and he said 'yeah OK have a good day'. Line was too long at the register to fix their mistake. Still didn't like the beef taste but the fries I didn't order tasted better than last time. It's hard getting a friendly employee here.

1/8/2025: Went here again with coworkers and only got the side of extremely dry and flavorless rice. Thank gawd I had salt to add something and a drink too make sure I didn't choke on one of the 2531 individual...

Knowing little about the place beforehand, I walked in with low expectations. Yet, I walked out an extremely satisfied and happy customer.

The first thing that stood out, was the service. We were welcomed very warmly and the cashier's recommendations were spot on. She helped us choose a meal that gave us a small taste of everything. I went back a few times for another side and for an extra serving of pita. At the very end, when the meal had been paid for, we were deliberating on what dessert to take home when the cashier gave us a piece of two different desserts to take back free of charge.

The food was flavorful and plentiful. Everything was seasoned perfectly and all the different ingredients complimented each other. Normally, I like to add a little sauce to my rice or to the chicken, but in this case I refrained from doing so out of fear that it would detract from the wonderful flavors of the food. The hummus was so good, that despite the generous portion of food before me, I went up to order more.

Don't expect a beautiful or great looking interior as it felt like the inside of any fast food restaurant. Don't let this fool you, as I thought that the food was just as good, if not better, than other Mediterranean restaurants that I...

After hearing good things about this place, I finally tried it. The place is very nice inside, you order and they call your number when it is ready. From everyone else online, I knew I had to try the business lunch special. It came with griddled chicken, little ground beef patties, steak pieces, falafel, rice, and shaved meat that looked like gyro. I hadn't tried most of these things before, but it looked and smelled so good. Everything was delicious! Lots of flavor and different textures. You have to try the sauces there. The red chili sauce is my new favorite thing, and the yoghurt one is tart and delicious. The stand out item was the falafel, so crispy and flavorful. Next time i have to get more of these!
