I’m so disappointed with Kid Empire Mundelein and its Management team for this location; for not having a mature, competent manager with social ability in charge, on a Saturday during multiple parties.
The Management staff were very young, and one was very very rude to our guests and us as being a customer to this establishment. Police was called because, mananagent chose not to help resolve a resolvable situation.
My 4yr-old granddaughter birthday party was ruined, because management did not have the proper training or did not use the training that she should have had, for proper Customer Service, working the front line.
At this establishment on yesterday, Saturday, February 10 2024; The maternal grandmother of the birthday girl, came to attend the party, without understanding of a waiver and had no understanding on how to do it at the facility. They would not allow her in without the wsiver completed. The grandmother asked the manager for assistance with the waver. The manager told her ‘ I don’t have time to assist you, we are busy here’. She then, asked the manager ( I believe the manager name was Samatha) if she could get someone from our party to come up to the front to help her, because she didn't have a cell phone to call anyone to help her. The manager again said, “no I dont have time, its busy” . The grandmother who has a language barrier is standing in the lobby so upset because she is not being helped and she is missing out on her grand daughter’s birthday party!! A customer saw she was so upset and not being helped, they went over and helped her with the waiver. This manager needs not to be working as a manager nor she definitely should not be working the frontline with the public again!
When my son-in-law came looking for his mom at the front, he saw she was very upset; he told the manager that his mom waiver has been completed already ; this manager got so rude with him, to the point of threatening him that she don’t have to even accept his services. She can put the whole party out and call the police of which she did call the police. That was very unnecessary, unprofessional and avoidable!
My 4yr- old granddaughter who had kids and parents from her school attend this party, was asked to leave and escorted out by the Police! This was AEFUL!!! This manager came to the back and approached the party saying she was ending the party and everyone had to leave, without and an effort of resolution! This mangers behavior and actions is unacceptable. Her actions can follow my grand daughter throughout her school days and school years, even the rest of her life! This manager chose not to help resolve or comfort the guest of which was the grandmother of the 4yr old birthday girl. Everything could have been avoided if this manager would have kept her cool and assisted as needed. The inability of Management to manage a busy establishment or have the compassion or training to assist customers as needed, should not be working with kids or their families. Customer Service was not rendered at all, at this facility. A full refund is warranted to the Golota Family! We never got anything from this establishment. We wasn’t there a good hour before being asked to leave and then escorted out by the police; this was very absurd, very embarrassing and very unnecessary. This staff should be fired, this establishment should refund them all their money back and should give the Golota Family and their Guest a very sincere apology!! This should have never happen and should NEVER happen to anyone...
Read moreThis review is solely based on the waiver parents are required to sign for themselves AND their child:
Key Concerns in the Waiver:
This waiver contains several provisions that broadly limit liability for Kids Empire (KE). Here’s a breakdown of the concerning elements:
Assumption of Risk and Inherent Danger (Section 1)
• The waiver highlights a wide range of risks, including severe injury and even death, which participants assume when using the facilities. • It explicitly mentions that risks arise not only from the activities themselves but also from the actions of other participants. • Concerning Point: This language is highly inclusive, making it difficult to argue liability even for preventable injuries.
Indemnification (Section 3)
• The agreement requires participants (and their representatives) to indemnify KE for any claims, even those caused by KE’s ordinary negligence or third-party actions. • Concerning Point: This could obligate you to cover KE’s legal fees and judgments in lawsuits arising from incidents beyond your control.
Medical Costs (Section 4)
• You are solely responsible for any medical expenses incurred during activities. • Concerning Point: This absolves KE of financial responsibility even if an injury occurs due to their negligence.
Photograph and Recording Release (Section 5)
• KE can use photographs or recordings of you or your child for any purpose, without compensation, perpetually, and globally. • Concerning Point: You waive the right to approve or restrict how these materials are used.
Mediation and Arbitration (Section 6)
• Disputes are resolved through binding arbitration rather than litigation, with no option for a jury trial. • Concerning Point: Arbitration often favors businesses over individuals and limits recourse for claims.
Severability and Scope (Sections 7 & 12)
• The waiver is designed to remain enforceable even if parts are invalidated. • The agreement applies to all future visits, not just the current one. • Concerning Point: This broad language ensures continued enforcement of the waiver without requiring re-signing.
COVID-19 Liability (Section 10)
• KE disclaims responsibility for any illness contracted on their premises, even if due to their negligence. • Concerning Point: This further limits liability during the ongoing pandemic.
Fraudulent Execution (Section 11)
• Any misrepresentation on your part could make you liable for legal fees and claims. • Concerning Point: This clause protects KE from attempts to void the waiver through incomplete or incorrect information.
Options to Challenge the Waiver:
• Argue Lack of Intent: If you used a dot without intending to agree, you could claim the signature was invalid. However, this defense might not hold if the system records the action as complete. • Dispute Specific Clauses: Courts may find certain provisions unenforceable, especially those waiving liability for gross negligence or serious injury.
Final Considerations:
• This waiver is heavily biased in favor of KE and aims to protect them from almost all liability. Signing—even with a minimal mark—likely binds you to its terms unless you can successfully demonstrate...
Read moreI was invited to a 4 year old's birthday party at this location yesterday. We arrived to discover that the establishment was incredibly busy but that's to be expected for a Saturday. What wasn't expected is that as I was bringing my 6 year old through the front gate, we were witness to the manager harassing and mistreating the grandmother of the birthday girl! There was an obvious language barrier as the elderly lady was clearly not understanding the English of the employees. It appeared as if the disagreement was over a pair of socks! I was able to redirect my young child away from the obvious bad behavior of someone who was assigned a supervisory position and we entered the facility. I notified the parents in order to have someone assist who could potentially help translate or mediate.
To my horror, a few minutes later, the police showed up. This manager had called the Mundelein police to put out the entire party because she didn't feel respected enough. (She came back yelling that "She was the manager and she would not be treated this way." like a petulant child throwing a tantrum!) Elderly relatives, children under the age of 7 with no guardians, bystanders, etc. were to be placed outside. I had to be removed with my young daughter by authorities! I have never been so insulted in my life! Blessedly, the police officers were kind and attempted to reconcile this situation for the safety of these YOUNG children but Samantha (the manger, was on some sort of high and would not be deterred. The officers were respectful and neutralized Samantha's aggressive attacks so that we were able to get all of the children with their parents.
Kids Empire, I implore you to review the staff that you have put in place at this location. This woman has no business in a managerial position and would likely require extensive training to even serve as a floor employee. Diversity and Inclusion training would be a minimum requirement for her. While the other employees were obviously embarrassed by her behavior, no one was able to stop the assault on this 4 year old during her birthday party. I have worked in the corporate world for over 20 years and I have never seen such overreach in order to disrespect marginalized communities and small children. I cannot imagine a situation in which I would return to this location. I would advise other parents to consider the safety of their...
