If you're looking for a dimly lit caveman style apartment that smells constantly like mildew and cat urine then BOY do I have the landlord special for YOU! During my first tour in April of 2023, I was showed a relatively nice unit (the same unit used in marketing photos on the website)- clean, painted semi-well, smelled nice- I QUICKLY learned that I was scammed upon moving into my actual unit. 1) When you read a post from a previous tenant about pest issues, BELIEVE THEM. During the summer months I would literally be dodging families of roaches in order to get into my front door. While I've only found 2 in the actual unit, I have had DOZENS of other bugs (giant crickets chilling in my toilet, water bugs in the bathtub and shower, etc). Not once has pest control actually sprayed anything when management sends a notice that pest control rounds are happening. 2) Disgusting and unexplainable smells: I have been living with the scent of cat urine during my entire stay here. The floors in my particular unit are extremely un-level concrete covered by 1/4 inch or less vinyl that scuffs, bubbles, and tears horribly. Clearly any pet smell that seeped into the concrete was not dealt with prior to my move-in. 3) WATER DAMAGE: as someone else commented, these buildings are OLD. That means the pipes are ancient too. I have communicated to the maintenance team at least 4 times that the damage to my baseboards in my bathroom had to be the result of a larger leakage issue with the pipes, and instead of fixing the issue, I was gaslit and the water damage was LITERALLY painted over in front of my eyes. Please see the attached photos of the current state of my bathroom baseboards- they will haunt you. And yes, critters make their way through the split in the wood. No inspector would allow this damage to fly under the radar. 4) MOLD: I should have known I was in for it when I read the lengthy mold subsection of the lease that requires tenants to notify management of any potential mold IMMEDIATELY. So, when I looked in the cabinet under my bathroom sink and discovered mildew and mold growing the wall after only living in the unit for 5 months, I did what was asked and contacted management (once again reiterating that the wider water damage issue was most likely the cause). The mold was sprayed, and immediately painted over. I had to BEG the maintenance crew to replace a piece of the baseboards due to the damage. I have since contacted the maintenance team 3 separate times to fix the issue, requested a mold testing kit, and I still have not gotten a clear answer on what the source of the problem is. 5) SHIFTY background checks: Only a month after I moved to this complex in May 2023, I began hearing some pretty vicious arguments from a neighbor in the building directly across me. This tenant made threats against another woman directly outside my window. Cops became regular visitors. A few weeks later as I left for work, I was approached by an officer with a photo of the tenant asking if I had seen her. Days later, 7 cops showed up late in the evening essentially bounty hunting this woman, as she had MULTIPLE warrants out for her arrest. Now, I brought these obvious safety concerns to the leasing office as there are CHILDREN who live in the apartment above, and was told that management "was not aware" of any police presence that night.... how does this just go under the radar? I was also told in this conversation that the woman had moved in right around the time I did... this woman had multiple warrants out for her arrest and the leasing office allegedly was not aware of this upon her move-in??? Days later, I was woken up by the sound of shattering glass at 12:19 AM. Someone had either shot out that woman's window, or tossed a rock through it, and it stayed broken for weeks. 6) Honorable mention- please see photos for the worst paint job I've ever seen (hair from previous tenants and spiderwebs were also just painted over). Also the ONLY ethernet port in the entire apartment?? PLEASE save yourself and DO...
Read moreI lived at this property for about five months, and it was a not a great experience! Upon move in, I noticed the unit looked nothing like what I was shown in the first place, so this place is very misleading. I also had up to thirty or more roaches (and roach eggs. EW) during the first month of living there. There was also this toxic, chemical smell in the apartment that never went away and whenever it was addressed, maintenance just told me "They can't smell it." The bathroom ceiling was leaking each time the upstairs tenant would take a bath, and when I say leak, I mean like full on rain in the bathroom. When they finally had plumbing come in to "fix" the leak, the plumbers ruined the bathtub in the process, broke the drain, chipped the finish, and left a huge mess. I wasn't even notified of when the plumbers would be entering my unit. The plumbers also let my pet run out of the apartment despite the notes I had on the door forewarning of an animal in the unit. Roaches aren't the only pests at this place, I also had slugs crawling around the shower tile and faucet. The heating unit and thermostat never worked correctly. I was told twice by maintenance and the office they had no clue when the heating unit would be replaced, despite the fact it's broken. On top of that, the gas unit is also in the bedroom. Which is not safe at all. The hot water heater in that same closet sprung a leak and got all over the carpet. To make things worse, I heard multiple gunshots one night. All these issues are being band - aided instead of resolved and fixed. The office typically ignores emails sent to them as well and communication isn't the best. Do yourself a favor and please do not move here. It is not a safe nor healthy living environment. The ONLY OKAY thing about this place, is the location. It's in the Nations and close to the city, but it is...
Read moreI have debated and debated leaving an honest review because an honest review of this place is an absolute terrible review. I have tried and tried to be the nice, respectful tenant. I really try not to be a problematic person but I have NOTHING but problems here. From neighbors harassing me and the leasing team doing nothing about it except telling me that problematic neighbors are a risk when you live in shared living community, neighbors smoke cigarettes in their apartments and it goes into my apartment & again, the leasing office telling me that they can’t kick someone out just because of that but oh God forbid you leave you trash can out longer than they say and you get fined. My bathroom floods nearly every month now. I have lived here a year and am only staying for the cheap rent but it’s not even worth it anymore. So much domestic violence here, no parking available, it’s not safe at all. And of course I just renewed my lease so I’m stuck in it.
If you are even THINKING of living here, do yourself a favor and save yourself any future stress and don’t live here. Don’t let the incentives reel you in. Don’t let the location win you over. It. Is. Not. Worth. It.
The lady who signed my lease was so kind and helpful but once I moved in, she’s rude anytime I go in. Like I’m an inconvenience. I can go on and on but you should get the point by now. Do. Not. Sign. A. Lease....
