Planet Fitness — Attraction in National City

I've been coming to this gym since March, and I must admit the night team is amazing. The facility is great as well. My one star is strictly FOR DAN a manager I have never seen until today , which he claims to have been there for 2 years , but he lied so much today who knows whats true, it could be true. One , I never had an issue in this gym until this morning. I went into the yellow room to do some squats / warm ups ! As most ppl know who genuinely works out , when you are working out you are focused on your exercise. You are breathing hard and really tired , so no focusing on someone else is not my thing. I went to the front desk and asked for a leg strap which DAN (the manager )was there to witness. I went back into the yellow room to clip the leg strap when I was startled by a Huge body builder that told me I was on his machine he's using , remind you when I approached the yellow room NO ONE was actively using the machine , I even had time to clip the leg strap. The body builder claimed to be using both machines. I stated to him "dude I didn't see you on this machine" he insisted he was using both and basically was acting like he was going to make me get off the machine. SO IM the one who went to the front desk to let DAN know what was going on. Dan claimed he would help instead it seems like Dan pro longed it and egged it on. Dan also lied and said the guy was using the machine when I walked back in, which is completely impossible due to the fact that I clipped the leg strap .. Dan also lied and said I cursed at him (more lies). I did however curse at the bodybuilder because he lied repeatedly and said I was recording when they can run the Cameras and see I was not. I called corporate on Dan , and the lady from corporate says once someone leave a machine they are not entitled to it, Dan should have been a reasonable manager and explained this. Instead he started laughing it up with the body builder , lying on me, the person who reported the situation. Dan be a better person. For $10 a month for extremely limited equipment no one should feel entitled to use 2 or 3 pieces of equipment at once. I do command the gentleman that was behind him , the one question I did ask he was truthful. He also stood behind Dan and didn't say much because he probably knew the situation was wrong. It's so sad. Mangers are suppose to deescalate issues, Dan made the issue worst. He lied and told me the guy left the facility , yet when I walked to the desk to turn in leg strap, the guy was still there. A body builder approaching a 125 pound woman . Yet Dan talking about I cursed at him , dude this man is a man who resembles a, that came up to me. Dan has lost his mind today but hopefully headquarters and corporate handles this correctly. Because Dan did not , he's not following policy , stays at the front and runs his mouth , and encourages ppl to use multiple machines instead of making it fair for everyone that spends they hard earned money. Also , I attached a picture where I was talking to dan for maybe 3 minutes and not once he looked at me. I even asked are you not going to be as attentive to me as you were the bodybuilder , he completely dismissed me because he said I cursed at him , I never once cursed at dan. I did use a curse word at the bodybuilder because one he made nasty comments before I even told Dan about the situation. & one the body builder kept lying saying I recorded him , which I offered Dan to look in my phone which he denied. I never recorded anyone so yes I told the bodybuilder to stop f*n lying on me (I never cursed at Dan ) MORAL TO THE STORY ; Dan escalated the situation , encouraged the bodybuilder he could use multiple machines at once knowing as a manager that could cause future issues with the limited equipment. Please run the cameras ! If I genuinely knew someone was using a machine , why would I use it ? A huge bodybuilder telling a 125 female she's getting off a machine & DAN DOES NOTHINg. In addition to my review , after today I felt so humiliated by two men that are in size should not have been acting the way they were acting. I am struck by this, I just personally feel like DAN (THE MANAGER) truly escalated the situation. Instead of being a manager and saying , "Hey let's be courageous of the equipment" , which I mind you, it's very rare I see an individual using two machines , being that this location is extremely packed all the time with limited equipment ppl love to use. So the character of a person attempting to use multiple machines and think it's ok, shows a lot . And then a person who thinks you're keeping track of them , if you on one machine , I assume you are not on another. I clearly walked away from the equipment to get a leg strap, and I honestly didn't even see this guy into he said something to me about the machine. I even walked away from him because he was honestly very intimidating and rude (& was saying very rude things ) I even proceeded to put my headphones in to ignore him until I went to the desk to get the manager, YET DAN TURNS THIS AND ACTS AS IF I SEEN THIS GENETLEMAN ON THE MACHINE, which I did not, and clearly when I walked back up it wasn't being actively used because I clearly was clipping the hook in the video Dan claimed to have viewed and agreed to let me see ,then denied because I cursed (and again not at him). All these teens that be in PF just chilling walking around. I've heard ppl curse here , which I ignore because I'm there for one reason, TO WORK OUT ! It's just crazy that Dan kept telling me , his co workers , and this other guy that he was actively using the machine , which he wasn't , maybe when I walked to get the leg strap but definitely not when I was approaching back. And Dan claimed to have seen me approaching and this guy using the machine over and over , as if I was lying. Lie for what ? This was really too much for me; and Although this was my first issue with PF. I am done ! Like what in the world , a small situation over freakin equipment and it could not be professionally handled. A professional working in a packed gym , where the membership is $10 a month, super packed, with adults and teens, (most of the time) I don't recall it being so packed today but like dude I'm telling I have never had someone come up to me on one machine and basically tell me to get off because they are using it while using another and not actively using the current (THE AUDACITY). DAN gets upset over a curse word where I'm telling the guy who thinks this is ok "to stop lying on me" yes I used the F word and even offered for them to see my phone to show I did not record. Adrian was a bit rude too, which was a wowser because she typically seems nice. , (the light skinned female , big boned, curly hair ) I'm only saying big boned because there is another light skinned female with curly hair , that's actually very nice , professional and is always walking around working. I give credit where it's due! Also, idk if Adrian is how you spell her name , I just seen a "A". She got dismissive over a curse word that was not directed to her. I really was just trying to ask her policy questions and she was focused on the dramatics of me saying a curse word. Saying because I cursed I'm being aggressive , No , I''m just woman of integrity and maybe if Dan just would have opened his ears he would have HEARD what was going on. Then did I mention Dan came up to me twice or three times about this after I'm thinking it's over , and while im actively working out and proceeded to talk about this in front of other customers (how embarrassing) , until I said "sir can I please work out, it's really not that serious to me " because it wasn't. Do you think I'm trying to spend my only day off talking about a piece of equipment I did not see this guy on, Dan walked away just to escalate it again. SAD ! To be honest, DAN did TOO MUCH of drama and too little of management. If I wanted to argue I would have never walked away to get...

Came to this location while I was in getting my truck done nearby. It’s definitely in an odd spot, my Uber driver even got lost trying to drop me off.

This gym is extremely clean, cold and overall confusing. I asked the desk staff about the setup and she was extremely helpful and it was clear she probably got asked this a lot.

It was odd that this location doesn’t have uniforms. I only saw the trainers wearing their Planet shirts but everyone else.. had no idea they worked there.

The gym is two stories, bottom floor has cardio, Smith machines, cables, free weights, some leg machines and the 30min workout station. Upstairs has more cardio, abs, some arms and some leg machines.

The bottom floor is so crowded! Not with people but so many machines. Free weights are maybe about 5ft from the smith machine and 2ft from an ab machine. Try doing squats with some guy nearly breathing down your neck while he’s working on his abs. Super uncomfortable with how the setup is.

I brought some free weights upstairs since there wasn’t any room downstairs, it worked out but also the row machines need to be checked out.. the panel is disconnected, and the wiring is out.

The locker rooms were honestly my favorite. The hand dryer is loud as hell, I get it’s supposed to “save the planet” but your overall hearing should come into account a bit. Get some paper towels or...
