The Family Living Center is a great place to stop in when visiting Nauvoo. There are demonstrations on candle making, bread making, weaving, rope making, and barrel making (I might be forgetting one or two as well). It's interesting to see the tools they used in the mid 1800s and makes you realize how blessed we are to have the things we have.

Totally free to the public, they show you how the pioneers used to make rope and rugs, bake bread in a bustle oven (fireplace), spin wool into thread and so forth. The LDS (Mormon) missionaries are very kind and donate their time to help keep the memory of our pioneers alive. Also nearby, check out the blacksmith/wheelwright, brick-maker's shop and gunsmith.
