"It is what it is." If you have an RV this is probably a great place. If you are tenting it, be prepared for some things. There is a group camp site and it may be occupied by a youth group (think loud teenagers) as it was the night we were there. This too made for a lot of competition for the toilet and shower facilities. Also, there are the RV electric sites. We experienced the sound of diesel engines pulling into the camp late at night. One also had the generator running. Some of our fellow tent campers had small children that were having a hard time at bedtime. I felt bad for the parents - I"ve been there. The security lighting was plentiful, to the point of it not being dark enough at night to be conducive for sleep. This is not "get away from it all" type camping.
Nauvoo is a great place to visit. I love it! Make sure to go, but also make sure your lodging or camping arrangements will...
Read moreWe stayed here for 2 weeks. It's not very level, and their definition of cleaning the bathrooms and showers is to just drench everything in a bleach solution, toilet paper included, let it just sit, and not wipe anything down. The electrical box is shared between two sites, so you need a pretty long cord in order to reach it. All that being said, we really did enjoy our time here. With it being only 5 mins from everything in Nauvoo, it is an ideal location to stay if that's why you're there. There's a free history museum on site that's a cute, little, local history museum. There's also a little lake where you can fish, boat, or swim. There are tons of trees, so, no matter the time of day, we always had shade. It is $20/night for electric sites. There's also a dump station, and two water spigots in the electric campground. They also have tent camping sites. Our T-mobile service was...
Read moreThis was our 2nd stay for two nights. On our previous visit, there was only one other trailer. This time there were a few more, but if this place was full, what a zoo it would be! You can't even determine where your site is because the whole park is one bit pine needle carpet! The sites are small but lots of trees. There are some walking trails. Only electricity was on site and potable water was not convenient for our location. Our visit included rain, wind and some hail. The place was a complete mud pit and so was our trailer.
It's very conveniently located right downtown, but it is very quiet and peaceful. The town is very pretty and interesting with a lot of religious history and cute shops. We even found a winery not far from our camper. I hope to find a different place to say if we have a return visit...
