This place had decent prices and good souvenir options. However, the neglectful treatment of the Hermit Crabs was very offputting. The hermit crabs had no substrate (no coconut fiber or sand). They had no heat lamp or water misting which is vital to their health. They had only one kind of water (not sure if it was salt or fresh), when they need both fresh and salt water. The water that was there had a sponge in it which have been known to hold bacteria, and was full of poop. The hermit crabs are so stressed in this environment that when I very gentle picked one up, it dropped it's claw signaling severe distress. In addition, there was also a hermit crab so far past death that it was largely decomposed and full of maggot egg casings. When I mentioned this to the cashier at the front, they did not seem to even care. I would really love to change this for them. Please do not support this shop! I was there recently, and the hermit crab set up was terrible. It was not at all suitable for these animals.They could not even bother themselves to supply the very basic need of sand or substrate for the crabs to bury themselves which is essential to their health and molting. The crabs were lethargically walking around, indicating stress and poor care, on the hard plastic surface. They were in painted shells which can be toxic. There was only one container of water (dirty), and they need fresh and saltwater to survive. There was no variety of foods or extra shells. Hermit crabs DO suffer and will sadly die within weeks in these conditions even though they can live 10-30 years in the wild. They are not disposable souvenirs. Since I was not able to reach the manager, and they would not take my number to have him call me back, I have reported these conditions to the local authorities. Please stop the sale of these...

Really surprised this place can stay in business with the management/employees currently running it. After being told I could make a same day return, i was not able to bc the (only) associate working did not know how to do credit card returns. Being that I was leaving the next day this was quite inconvenient. When I go in the next day (on our way out of town) I was told I wouldn’t be able to return the shorts…after the clerk had an uncomfortable conversation with the associate who checked me out the day prior then called someone to walk her through how to do the return in the system I was told the the refund processed but it’s yet to reflect on my account and I was told they couldn’t give me a paper receipt of the return.
