Friday, 1/5/23, if you need any medical attention do NOT I repeat do not go to this emergency room!!! It had gone so down hill I can’t believe it!! I don’t even know where to begin let’s start here! I am a type one diabetic with gastroparesis. I went in with horrible pains in my stomach the doctors would was suppose to be helping me, decided to not only wait three hours for a CT scan after he said he wanted to make sure it wasn’t an appendicitis can you imagine waiting three hours just to find out you could have one that’s insane right!! Not only that my blood pressure was 90/48 and the nurse had to do it 5 times over just to double check me before giving me morphine the ONLY reason they allowed the morphine was because I was being watched on the monitors and I was in excruciating pain and even if the CT scan came back as I didn’t have an appendicitis I wasn’t going anywhere any time soon. Not even ten minutes after giving me the dose of morphine. The nurse comes back into my room and says oh the doctor just filled out the discharge papers and I was in such shock I didn’t even know what to do or what to say! I was in so much pain plus on two doses of morphine with in three hours and they are sending me home!!? I’ve never heard of that in my life!!! Obviously like any person I didn’t feel safe or comfortable so I definitely signed them and left! I yesterday finally spoke to my doctors about everything that happened and they have no clue about anything! They have no information from the hospital. When she looked it up in the system it says that I was admitted but nothing about me being but discharged AND or any information about the CT scan or blood tests them giving me morphine twice and the Covid test!! I’m truly disgusted and I will be suing the hospital and the doctor from that night cause any doctor knows that it is illegal to give someone and any kind of opiate medication then discharge them shortly after!! He will lose his job for this!!! That’s extremely disgusting I also have two witnesses who were with me so try and lie about this plus there are cameras of me and my family members walking out so try me!!! This is unacceptable and completely disgusting!!! Your telling me that someone who is type one diabetic and who has serious health conditions apparently has been in your hospital for six freaking days and none of yall have any idea where the heck I have been!!???...
Read moreThis place is a mess. There is NO EXCUSE for the degree of ineptitude i encountered. -- the radiology department and registration reminded me of the Three Stooges episode wherein either Curly or Larry stepped on a rake and it hit him in the face .. He stepped away only to step on another and get slammed in the face .. Then another .. Then another. The Stooges were smarter than this place. I gave up dealing with them. I tried to reschedule an appointment for some test because i wouldnt have my car repaired in time to attend the appointment. I was asked if i wanted to reschedule at that time but i wasnt sure of my schedule. Two days later, i called back to reschedule, they gave me an appointment -- great! .. Done! .. That is how it normally goes. However, i hung up the phone and changed some social plans and a meeting with some funeral pre-planning. After adjusting my schedule, i got a call from BIDMC radiology telling me that i needed a medical number before i can schedule an appointment. Ok, fine. I called the number she afforded to me, obtained the number, and called back, provided the number, rec'd an appointment date from a lady named Amanda, who made the appointment for me because i was transferred to the wrong department. Amanda instructed me to call radiology back if i need a different appointment. Ah .. DONE! After all the drama, no .. The date and time are fine .. Nice -- Done .. uhm .. No .. I rec'd another call a short time later telling me that i am not in their system and i do NOT have an appointment and that they do not know Amanda and noone can make an appointment for me. I was shocked; i was in the system when i canceled. I gave up -- BIDMC won that cosmic war of attrition. I called the next day, and the process started to repeat so i cut my losses and hung up. At this point, as far as i am concerned, i can live without the test for a while. To be completely honest, i do not want to go to Needham. Im pretty adamant about refusing to go. Theyve exhausted my patience. I am willing to wager that they are still stepping from...
Read moreI came for a day knee replacement surgery and ended up staying overnight, through the following afternoon. My surgical team was great, and the recovery room staff were attentive. One of the particularly great recovery nurses even went out of her way to stop in to see me the next day. The nursing staff during the day seemed fine, although stretched thin. They seemed thoughtful in terms of offering helpful suggestions in response to any questions I had, or recognizing my needs. However, on at least one occasion, it took 2.5 hours past when I began calling for pain meds (and when I knew I was allowed to get them) until the nurse(whom I liked very much) was able to get to me and discuss my needs. However, I am mostly writing my review to express the sharp contrast with the night nursing staff and environment, which I later referred to as the "night circus." Although there was no actual nursing station outside my room, staff could be heard very loudly laughing and joking throughout the night. I was able to get someone to close my door, since I was unable to get to the door myself, but that only slightly minimized the noise. I even heard loud commentary on specific patients , including their room numbers. Moreover, my own assigned nurse was cold and unfriendly, and appeared to accuse and blame me several times for not doing something I had not known I was supposed to do. When I attempted to advocate for myself in expressing my specific wishes regarding my care, she argued with me, citing her own needs, rather than recognizing mine. Her explanations were incomplete and unhelpful, and at one point when I changed my mind about a particular confusing option when I finally thought I understood it, she thanked me for not wasting her time! I would definitely not recommend this hospital for an...
