Back in March we brought our laptop in out of desperation, as it had shut down and we were unable to get it going again. This had happened once before, and with much time and effort, my husband was able to get it going again. This time we thought it would be wise to bring it to a professional - especially since we used the laptop to run our business. The gentleman at PC Mechanics talked me into something other than what I came there for, and the results were disastrous! He did a bait and switch (assuring me that he could probably solve this problem, the whole time making sure I knew that he HATED working with Mac laptops). When I picked my laptop up, it most definitely turned on, but everything had been wiped and every single piece of information lost. Knowing that the laptop would be a clean slate, the mechanic sold me (beforehand) a piece of equipment onto which my old information could be transferred (leading me to believe it would be). This was another waste, as there was absolutely nothing transferred to it! I literally bought this piece of equipment (only because the mechanic recommended it), discovered that it was completely useless, and threw it right in the garbage! Not only did our laptop not get fixed to our satisfaction, but we were duped into purchasing things we did not want by a smug "PC Mechanic" who acted as if I was annoying him. After the fact, a phone call to that mechanic only made matters worse, as he impatiently shifted the blame to me, basically telling my husband "Too bad, that's what your wife bought." My husband ended up recovering some of our data without the aid of the mechanic. I guess he should have taken care of the whole thing himself, like he had previously done, without the benefit of the "professionals" at...
Read moreBack before the pandemic pc mechanics was an okay repair shop. As of now they are unprofessional and just rude. I had my computer brought in for an error I wasn't able to correct myself. $139 to fix an error code on the computer. When my girlfriend picked up the computer she noted how rude Travis was to her and the comments he made about myself where cheap jabs at someone who doesn't have the knowledge great enough to work on computers at this level hence why I was at a computer repair shop! Hopefully you can read this review before choosing to work with pc mechanics and have a better idea of what your in for. Superior knowledge is not a pass to treat others as garbage.
(To respond to the owner I can appreciate a goal to achieve good customer service and I appreciate the apology. As far as reviews impacting small businesses you are 100% correct. With that said feedback for a growing business is extremely valuable and for me to sugarcoat the situation or be untruthful is wrong. As far as brining up my review history yes I only leave a review when it’s a polarizing experience most of the time the service has to be egregiously unacceptable and this unfortunately is one of those cases. I could be wrong in this assessment but it seems bringing up my review history is to undermine my experience and discredit my opinion. I hope I’m...
Read moreNo knowledge at all! You come there tell them a problem that it may be in 2 areas and he just runs games and does very little stress testing to fix my problem. He did however put windows 10 back on my pc, but my problem was the motherboard which I came in and told arrogant worker that it might be gpu or motherboard. it took him a whole day to look at it and call me and go it was a windows 11 update. Which turned out to be wrong. Whatever they do to stress test is garbage! High prices and will rip you off and assume you dont know anything. Go to milwakuee pc in oshkosh. They get more foot traffic, cause they are actually good. 360 bucks for windows 10 back on my pc, but my games still crash. Saving up for a motherboard since these polesmokers...
