Terrible swim culture at this Y. I showed up to the pool at 6:45 to swim and was flat out told by other swimmers that they would not split a lane with me. On the lap times printout they hand out and their website it says that swimmers are supposed to be 3 to a lane if there arenât enough lanes. I feel that it is misrepresentation to have this policy on the Yâs marketing materials and not enforce it because it severely limits the capacity of the pool for lap swimming. There are only 4 lanes open in the morning. For only 8 people to swim laps at a time is completely ridiculous in a gym this size.
I spoke to a friend who is also a member who has had the same issue of people refusing to split lanes. The lifeguard just sits there and does not intervene.
I joined this gym to use the pool. If I canât use the pool, there are plenty of less expensive gyms in the area where I can go. I donât wake up at 6:00 to get to the gym and watch other people exercise.
