As a escape room enthusiast (this was our 91st escape room), I have definitely seen both great games, bad games, and everything in the middle. When I first came here, I was pretty skeptical (as I am with all new escape rooms). This game quickly assuaged my fears. We played "Ice Station Zero", a nuclear bunker type game, and the second we entered the first room the game visually stunned us. It is not a particularly flashy game, but the set carries the military vibe of the backstory. It honestly works in conjunction with the puzzles, who also have a distinct militaristic and nuclear feel to them as well. Serving to make a great game better, the puzzles use hidden technology to automatically open passages and containers, which is a refreshing break from solely lock games. Overall, I believe new and old escape game players alike will have something to enjoy in "Ice station zero", and I would whole heartedly reccomend it to anyone.
Update: Due to our enjoyment of Ice Station zero, we decided to try out their other game, 44 Winterwood lane. It surpassed Ice Station Zero, which is saying a lot as it was one of our top games. The set was top notch, the puzzles were consistently incredible and interactive, and the story breathed new life into the typical "Find the inheritance" style escape rooms. Even after 91 escape rooms, 44 Winterwood lane is the absolute best. Mass escape is an exceptional company with two top notch games....
Read moreI've been to several room escapes across 3 major cities. Mass Escape is among the best I've ever played, and may be my personal favorite.
It starts with the owners. They clearly have a passion for room escapes, and it shines through in the way they run theirs. They exude enthusiasm through the entire experience. They commit to the scenario and make it feel more immersive.
The same holds true for the room itself. Although the attention to detail is not the best I have ever seen, it is pretty close. The props and pieces are well-chosen and sometimes quite impressive. The puzzles are also generally well-designed. There were few bottlenecks, and there was usually plenty for everyone to work on. The puzzles were also quite clever, and overall it provided a satisfying level of challenge.
One innovation that I haven't seen elsewhere is a scoring system. Rather than just have one objective - escape the room as quickly as possible - this game provides bonus objectives too. I found this to be a very satisfying addition.
Overall I highly recommend Mass Escape, and eagerly look forward to their...
Read moreNever done an eacape room before, and I loved this place! I will be back with more people for sure! Very lively and interactive staff, no lack of clues either! I really thought I'd have to struggle to find clues but it all flowed and the game master would help us when we started to get stuck. That way, we get to experience more of the rooms before the time runs out. I just wish I would've remembered the rules a little more, but I was just excited to play! I also wish I had remembered that you can tell how far along you are in the game by the candles! That would've been super helpful for me, as I moved from one task to another quickly and over looking things, as I was worried about if I had enough time. Next time I will have an idea how it works. Overall I loved it! My 11 year old hates dolls so she avoided that room at all costs, but it was all awesome! I highly recommend. Very involved and you can tell it takes ALOT of effort to put together and to reassemble rooms after people have been...
