As of writing this, I'm a sophomore here at RU. Being pretty familiar with the Douglass campus, Neilson dining hall is my main place to burn meal swipes. Atmosphere and food is typical for your average college dining hall. Not too bad. However, I am writing this review not because of the food, but because of an employee that works here. There is a particular lady that never fails to be as rude and condescending any chance she gets. I'm not sure what her name is, but she is a little short, dark hair, and just looks pissed off all of the time. My first bad interaction with her, was when she undeserved me portions of food at take out. When I politely asked for the serving amount (7 chicken wings, I was served 4), she advised me to go to another restaurant if I wasn't satisfied with the amount of food that I had, and that I didn't have a right to complain because she was simply "working". I was then charged 28 dollars for 4 wings and a side of mac and cheese.
Today, she was working the burger bar. If you are a regular at Neilson, you know that the burger sizes are relatively small. After requesting 2 cheeseburgers, she told me "You should have spoke up earlier. How was I supposed to know you wanted 2 if you didn't say anything?" Now, I know what you're thinking. That doesn't make any sense...it's because it doesn't at all. She not only had more than 2 burgers on the grill, but this was also her response after asking me what I wanted. Not sure what her goal was here, but she did a good job being pretty obnoxious.
Other of my friends and roommates have told me about similar experiences with this employee, and it makes me try to completely avoid what station she's working. And sometimes going to Neilson entirely. My description of this person is very vague, and if I knew her name, I would put it in this review. Perhaps Neilson higher-ups can move her to a job in the kitchen that doesn't require her to interact with students that don't want to interact with people most...
Read moreI love the amount of choices (pasta, pizza, fish, vegan, taco's , waffles, salads, etc). Pretty decent food/flavor and good selection of drinks. I always enjoy coming here when visiting but pricing expensive ($24 per person) which is fair for an "all-you-can-eat" .... so make sure you get a friend with Rutgers Meal pass...
Read moreHuge shoutout to Robert and the delivery person who was kind enough to deliver my meal to me while I am in isolation. The food is hot and tasty and I am very grateful to you all at Neilson for making the bad experience of isolating and having COVID into a tolerable one. I am so...
