I had an extremely disappointing and unsettling experience with the Rutgers University Police Department. I was pulled over by Officer last name Syed, a female officer, who claimed I “seemed a bit off”— Without any valid reason or explanation, I was approached and stopped by her while simply minding my own business. I cooperated fully and underwent three separate DUI tests, all of which I passed without issue. Despite having done nothing wrong, I felt profiled and unfairly targeted.
Interactions with law enforcement should be based on clear, lawful reasoning, not vague impressions or assumptions. This experience left me feeling harassed and humiliated for no reason. Officer Syed’s conduct was unprofessional and unwarranted, and I hope Rutgers takes steps to ensure accountability and proper training moving forward.
