Rutgers DOTS is literally the worst department I've ever come across in the history of departments. I paid $165 to park in parking lot where NO PARKING SPOTS ARE AVAILABLE. The department does not think it's important to keep a track of how many spots they sell. They oversell their parking spots and then give people tickets for parking in lots they weren't assigned to because obviously not everyone can find a SPOT IN THE LOT THEY WERE ASSIGNED TO. I spent 20 minutes looking for a spot in the yellow lot which is the largest commuter parking lot and not one spot was found. At the end of 20 minutes, I found one spot, JUST ONE at the corner of the lot. Rutgers clearly does not care about it's commuters and makes the experience extremely terrible for us. If I could give this department, -100 stars I would. In addition, they rarely appeal their decisions and make over a million $ giving people tickets when there is no way for us to appeal our tickets in court. And, why aren't engineers or other STEM majors who have their classes on Busch given priority to buy Busch passes? We're late to classes every single time because not only do we have to take inefficiently run buses to get to a campus where all of our classes are on, we have to again look for parking spots in lots where no parking spots are available. Absolutely ridiculous! This entire department is absolutely pathetic and needs to be seriously...
Read moreNot sure what constitutes a scam, but the way RU DOTS operates comes as close to a scam as I can think. They often gave me tickets for parking in lots in which my parking permit was covered, the appeal process then takes weeks as well with them asking you to provide "evidence".
Recently, I also had to contact RU DOTS about purchasing a parking permit (they have no calling option so you have to email them/open a case on their website lmao) so that I can go to work at one of the labs here at Rutgers; not only did they only approve me to buy the temp staff permit from June to December instead of the one from September to December, so that I have to pay more money; they gave me a parking ticket while I was buying the permit inside my car making it so that I had to pay/appeal the parking ticket before being allowed to purchase the permit. This department is extremely predatory and should be examined under a closer lens in the eyes of the law on whether or not their practices are constitutional or not. Genuinely this department (not even mentioning their complete mess of an accountings department regarding tuition and financial aid) will make you lose all respect you have for...
Read moreliterally the worst department I ever dealt with. I had a vehicle loaner car since my car was getting serviced and they came into the parking lot at 12 am and 3 am on the same day and gave me two citations for parking in a public parking lot. Obviously I was sleeping since I live here year round. Never emailed me or sent me a letter to my apartment. Both citations are ridiculously priced at $50. The only way I found out there was any citation was through my boss since I work at a dealership and had their loaner car. So because I park in that lot every night since their is no street parking, I looked up my cars license plate number and my boyfriends they gave us multiple citations that we had no clue about. I live not even 2 mins from the lot and they didn't even send us any type of notice. Iv noticed they like to wait until it is midnight to then give citations out to people which I think is very scummy of them to do that. This whole department is a scam and does not care about anyone other then money. PROVIDE PARKING TO RESIDENTS WHO LIVE HERE ALL...
