New Hope Pool is our family's favorite pool in the Twin Cities. We have loved how clean it is and that there are several areas to play.
The things that we see as needing a consideration for adjustment or upgrade :
There is very little shade. The sunsails are very high and don't offer much relief on truly hot days. Really difficult if you're a person who needs bouts of respite in the shade.
The Lifeguards are quite focused on their work, which the should be. From our perspective many of them carry an air of frustration and even anger because of SOME guests bad behavior. I'm not trying to be pejorative, just that there needs to be some kind of understanding that they set the tone for the pool and when they are barking orders at safety break or at the end of the day they can really come off like a-holes. They aren't. Just weary of bad guest behavior.
The hours. 🫠 Summer in MN is short enough. The pool doesn't open till noon and is done at 8p. And the last week of this Summer they closed at 7p.
New Hope stayed open later than all the other pools in the TC, staying open till Aug 24th, but it cuts Summer off again by almost 10 days - 2 weeks. College kids have to leave and that's understandable, but hire some high school juniors and adults.
Stop shortening Summer! 💯🏖

Read moreLast year was a 5 star year. This year maybe a two. The life guards are just horrible. They don’t enforce any rules. They seem to not have certain rules like no throwing large balls across the pool. I almost got hit several times by fast moving footballs thrown by big guys. Nothing said by lifeguards. Lap lanes overrun by kids so people cannot swim laps. Food being eaten, spilled and litter everywhere. The most disturbing thing happened tonight. A little boy about 7 got up on the high dive and got scared. He stood up there for at least 10 minutes crying, being stared at and goaded. No one helped him. The lifeguard up on the slide near him did nothing. His sister was running around on the ground trying to do something to help. He finally came down the ladder even though they said it was against the rules. How can they not have a plan for this. They had no radios. God help us if there is a drowning! It seemed traumatizing for him and it was traumatizing watching it. It was disgusting. I’m so disappointed in the management - I hope they learn...
Read moreWe really enjoy this pool when we can but they don’t have good capacity regulations. This is our 3rd year buying season passes but it will probably be our last. Many days you can’t find parking or a place to sit. Even the grass is covered with people. I feel like they should lower their capacity so there’s actually room for those of us who buy season passes. I understand the concept of first come first serve when entering the park but at this point it seems quality control has gone out the window. You should be able to check where the capacity is at any given time on the website. That way you don’t pack up your kids and pick up friends only to get there and see that it’s ridiculously overcrowded. There’s gotta be a way to limit one day pass admissions in order to leave room for those with season passes. Otherwise the season passes just aren’t...
