Not a good music venue, possibly better for other events. My friend and I attended for the pre-show during Four Chord Music Festival.
The acoustics are terrible in this venue. It’s a small venue, but still very difficult to hear music and difficult to hear anyone speaking into a mic. Sound is muffled, yet incredibly loud at the same time. My friend, who didn’t have ear protection, couldn’t hear correctly for the rest of the weekend (we went there on a Friday) after we attended the concert here.
It was very humid and warm inside even though it was in the evening (during the beginning of summer).
For the women’s restroom, there are 2 stalls, so the line gets incredibly long. Not sure about the men’s restroom.
They do have food and drinks downstairs. A little pricey for the kind of venue it is, but not outrageous.
Parking is street parking. We found a spot easily, however, I’m sure many had to park a couple blocks away, so please consider this if you have issues with parallel parking or if you have issues with walking.
Overall, I would probably not come here again if I could help it.
Edit 7/14/24: This edit is in response to Preserving Underground’s reply to my review.
I’m very sorry I had the nerve to leave a review on Google Reviews about my experience, I understand it may provoke big feelings when people don’t have a great time where you work.
My 1 star was purely due to acoustics and how the music was muffled, but yes, thank you for responding to everything else that let potential customers know what to expect overall, especially the part about parking because absolutely no one has ever had medical issues that may prevent them from walking several blocks, ever. Thank you for your very lengthy reply and the justifications, I hope you feel better getting your feelings out. I’m so sorry I hurt your feelings, I will try in the future to not have experiences in general to mitigate hurting...
Read moreGuys, this is it. This is the one. This is not your Stage AE or Starlake. This is an intimate venue; no barriers, no *bull, run by a guy who is a true lover of music(and a musician himself) and is doing so much good for the music scene in Pittsburgh. Particularly for underground music and hardcore/heavier genres. I've been to a number of shows here now and can say it is such a fun experience. There is also a room within the venue area dedicated to the birth and growth of hardcore, like a little museum. So cool to look through the memorabilia like Reba Meyer's(Code Orange) guitar, setlists from sooo many different bands, promo posters, the list goes on. If you come here for a show, do yourself a favor and check out Preserving Records. Buy a vinyl or a few(cash only! There is an ATM inside), there is a LOT to see here. You can tell this record shop and venue has been a labor of love only possible through the combined efforts of all those involved in its existance. Much love and stay heavy. 🤘

Read moreUPDATE: This place just keeps expanding! Now, a second location down the street. Audio equipment and a discount selection are available also. The main store is also a venue for great shows. The owner is very active in the community, so check their social media for shows and events. You also need to check social media for their hours as they can vary, and both stores don't run at identical hours all the time.
This is a great record store and cool venue. The selection of vinyl, cassette tapes, and CDs is HUGE. They also have a lot of cool vintage t-shirts and hoodies. The owner and staff are knowledgeable and will help you find what you need. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours digging the crates because there are many gems...
