I am giving this place a 1 star. The monument was moving and interesting, however, it was also moving in that we had to run away from the dogs on the property. While we were looking at the memorial, two dogs came out of the bushes and looked like they could have been feral. The dogs started barking, charging, and growling, so I ran through the bushes and then the dogs started charging at me and my grandparents in the middle of the memorial. We yelled at the dogs and for help in the middle of the memorial, then, when it seemed that no one was coming, we started yelling at the dogs while making our way to the gate. As we made it out of the gate, a memorial employee appeared and started walking towards the fence at which point, she told us that there was nothing to be scared of because the dogs were "nice" and that they are barking because we gave off bad energy and were "swinging at them." We had nothing to swing at the dogs and certainly did not provoke them. I recommend seeing the memorial, but be sure to keep wary of the dogs, maybe bring mace or a taser, as they may or may not start charging at you and...

They did a good job with this memorial. It's respectful & understated (they could actually add more info to the site). They planted a circle of cypress trees to create some shade & there are several benches to use. This is the ground of the Charity Hospital Cemetery & where bodies that were donated to science are taken to - it is NOLA's Potter Field. It's too bad that more locals don't realize it's there. From what I understand the park didn't receive much publicity because Hurricane Gustuv stole the spotlight at the same time of its unveiling (official unveiling was 3 years to the day later of Katrina 8-29-08). This is where the 83 bodies that were not able to be identified &/or unclaimed from the tragedy have been...

This is a peaceful memorial to those who lost lives so much during the deadly Hurricane Katrina. The memorial is shaped like the storm itself, and even the trees at the memorial help to form the shape. You cannot really see this from the ground level, though you can get a general sense. We've attached an aerial video so you can get a full perspective on the memorial. The center of the storm-shaped spot contains the memorial itself, with benches all around so you can take some time to pause and reflect. For those interested in the storm and its impact on the city of New Orleans, this is the city's official memorial, and does a good job offering a sobering and beautiful spot to reflect on the...
