Dr. Lupo ruined my skin horribly and had the audacity to insult me when I went back to address my concerns. I had a small indented scar near my lip from a mole removal. I made an appt. with her 2 yrs later for scar repair. At the initial appt. she only offered me one treatment option, which was dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is an invasive l procedure that is pretty outdated. The treatment has been mostly replaced by lasers. She was going to do spot treatments on 2 small scars. Both scars became worse after the procedure even after a year of healing time. I followed her after care instructions perfectly and was even told that I did a good job of doing at my post check up appt right before the Covid shutdowns. The mole removal scar is really drastically worse. She abraded good skin around the scar and it made the area not only worse but wider. It caused new scars, demarcation lines, hypo-pigmentation and a rough uneven texture. The area looks awful and has made me so depressed and has greatly affected my self esteem. I can't believe it made a larger scarred area and caused my fair skin to have a white raised circle around the initial indented scar. It really makes me upset that she damaged my good skin around the scar, when I thought this procedure was only treating the scarred areas. I was patient in waiting at least a yr for it to heal. I was unable to get back to see her until 1 year and 5 months later due to Covid and an injury. However, when i saw her again, I politely told her that I was very unhappy. I also mentioned that I did not understand why she did not offer any other treatments like scar subcision. She straight up lied to my face and said we did discuss other options, which was a complete lie. I had even asked about using fillers at the consult appointment but she only gave me the option for dermabrasion. Than when I complained that the skin around the scar is now much lighter due to hypo-pigmentation,, she stated that dermabrasion cannot cause hypo. This is completely incorrect and is noted as risk in several medical studies/reports and by doctors on Real Self. She damaged the skin's melanocytes when she blasted the layers of skin off. The lightened area was not there before and is in the same circled area she treated around the scar, I have new scars from the procedure that look as if the skin did not rejoin properly. The treated skin is higher now than my good surrounding skin and you can see scarred lines separating the dermbraded skin from the untouched skin, that were not there previously. While discussing this with her she barely even looked at the area and tried to blame possible weight gain for it looking different, which was ridiculous!. I furthered that I was upset because I have good skin in which she rudely replied that no I didn't and that I have rosacea. That comment was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. I understand that some people are blunt in telling it like it is, but the comment seemed to be said because she took offense that I wasn't happy with her almighty divine work and to make me feel like my skin is already bad so her mistakes should not matter. I have great smooth skin and I don't have roseaca lady. I have seen other dermatologists including you and that was the 1st time hearing this. Also, if my skin was so " bad," than why would you perform such an invasive procedure?! I would also think an educated Dr. could differentiate facial flushing from the heat and obvious physical exertion from roscea. I clearly was a bit sweaty when I made it to the appointment from walking a few blocks in the hellish August heat. Finally, she didn't even offer me any real options to correct the damage she caused. She only said she could do a TCA cross peel all around my mouth /chin area to see if it would help even it out at my expense. This type of peel is minimally invasive and makes the skin scab. SO once again only offering me some risky treatment that would cause injury/damaged to my good skin. The emotional distress has been horrendous and I feel helpless in having...

Dr. Lupo has extremely long wait times. On my first visit there were a couple of patients that left stating they had been waiting hours to be seen. When I said I was leaving, one of the ladies at reception then said I was next. I really wish I had left because I paid over $500 for Botox and did not get my desired results. Dr. Lupo rushed through my Botox injections and photos. When I was checking out, I asked one of the residents (yes she has student doctors shawdowing her), how many total units had been injected in my face. It was like I asked for her first born!! It was an issue where she assumed I questioned the pricing (poor understanding was a theme at this office!). Next Dr. Lupo came up and asked me to come back to one of the exam rooms. Once inside, she stated she didn’t want to discuss pricing in the checkout area. I looked at her with confusion and kindly clarified that I had no issue with the pricing, but I wanted to know how many units of Botox she had injected. She boldly stated “you wouldn’t ask Picasso how much the paint cost”. Well I was all out of niceties after that. I reminded Dr. Lupo that 1. She was not Picasso 2. That it should not be a problem with a patient asking a medical provider for the amount of medication being injected and 3. That I was paying a fee for a service, not a painter for paint (keep in mind Picasso was an artist, not a simple painter as she had implied).
After 2-3 weeks I noticed one of my eyebrows was significantly higher than the other. I went back to get the tweak that was included in the initial payment and she messed it up even more. It took 3-4 months of drawing my left eyebrow higher to match the right one that she messed up before it wore off.
I think maybe in the past she was a good provider but now she triple books appointments (one patient told me she takes a personal day from work because two hours are never enough time to be seen!!!). The patient also told me that Dr. Lupo only gives a “natural Botox look”...that’s odd because NEVER in 5 years of getting Botox injections had I ever needed 40 units. My abosolute max had been 30 prior to my visit to this office. My first appointment here she supposedly injected 40 units and I went back for a tweak. After both visits my crows feet were still very visible and wrinkles in my forehead was also visible. Soooooo I highly doubt that the total units she stated was correct, which is why she and the resident were so defensive when I asked how many units she had used.
Best advice I could give is to find a different...
Read moreI was here a few months ago and have been meaning to write a review since. I have never had a more awful cosmetic/medical experience than at Dr Mary Lupo's office. It took nearly an hour to be seen even with my appointment, and then Mary came in and immediately very rudely started telling me how awful my skin was. She said something like "you have good eyes BUT...." and then started telling me about the rest of my face in a very insensitive way. I am 33 with some sun damage and acne scars, but I am self conscious about this and was hoping to have a conversation about it rather than this kind of confrontation. Then after recommending thousands of dollars worth of some kind of skin treatment she doesn't even give me what I came in for, Botox in my forehead. I have been getting it for years and was about to go to my sister's wedding, but she refused to give it to me for whatever reason. She said she never gives Botox in the forehead on a patient's first visit, and she said she would give me a Botox brow lift instead, which I had never heard of or requested. I felt put on the spot and really wanted to get what I had come for, I had waited all that time and realized at some point that this would probably be a costly visit just to see the doctor, so I said ok. I had barely any results from the "brow lift" except for looking a bit angry all the time. I still had to go elsewhere to get my regular forehead Botox just barely in time to be in my sister's wedding with weird looking eyebrows, a highly photographed event I will be seeing photos of for the rest of my life most likely. To top it off they charged me $600 for this awful mistake of an experience. Oh and the one of the weirdest parts of the visit was that she was yelling at this poor woman that was training the entire time. I thought at one point the woman was going to burst into tears, I kid you not. It was THAT BAD. It made me extremely uncomfortable. She was over the top rude and condescending to this woman as she typed notes on what she recommended for my treatment. The entire office staff seemed on-edge the entire time and it was super uncomfortable. I can't believe this place is even open. RUN AWAY FROM THIS...
