Many City parks are located along the banks of the Pithlachascotee River - or the Cotee, as it's known by the locals. Boat docks and kayak launches are available for public river access from the parks. Swimming dolphins and manatees are a common sight on the Cotee, along with a variety of native Florida wildlife.
Though the part of the Cotée River Park I frequent is Sims Park, situated in the heart of Downtown New Port Richey, is a scenic and vibrant community space. The park sits along our Cotee River and features a playground, splash pad, outdoor workout equipment, and an amphitheater. It serves as a hub for local events, including Free Family Movie Nights, the Concert in the Park series, and larger celebrations such as the Hometown Extravaganza and End of Summer Spectacular. Leashed dogs are welcome in Sims Park.
