Sims Park is one of my favorite places to take the kids & near, or at the top of their list of favorite places to be. It's located in downtown New Port Richey, which is a growing and thriving area right next to the Cotee River, as it's called locally. (Pithlachascotee River IS a mouthful!) This park has a great sized, fun playground with a few covered bench areas in case you want to throw a B'day party. Idk if they charge, but I don't think so. The Splash Park is free & all the more impressive for what it packs into a smaller area because of that. Between the benches/playground and the lake (with a track around it and a wrap around dock) there is also an area where fountains of water come out of the ground for the kids (and any hot adults!) to run through & play in. To get out of the sun there's even a small local museum to visit. There are plenty of great places to get food along w/ a really good variety (rated best of Tampa Bay in Mexican food & a few other types I recently saw) & some excellent ice cream. You can also rent electric scooters etc at a nearby shop. All is within walking distance & there's plenty of free parking. I went with my niece & all I spent was $11 on 1 Med. smoothie & 1 Med. (BIG) ice cream (after trying quite a few, for free of course!) w/ a cpl toppings for a few hours of fun! We brought drinks & ate before we went. This turned out to be my only regret after smelling all the wonderful food! Go & enjoy Sims Park and the rest of beautiful Downtown New...
Read moreWe’ve been going to Sims since before they were a year old! It’s only a few minutes from where we live which makes it very convenient! There’s so much to do here, the playground has a bunch of different activities for all ages, it’s very interactive. There’s a smaller playground for the little ones and big playground that’s really for all ages, tons of swings to choose from, a water park/splash pad, and it’s right on main so you can hit up Mountaineer for some coffee or one of the two ice cream shops, there’s a pizza place with a bar that lets you take alcohol to go which is awesome for parents haha. There’s a walking trail where you can walk on he bridge to look at the lake or near the boat ramp to look at the river and other scenery, ducks are all over the place and the kids love it! We still take them here all the time. They have many different events here, parades, Chasco Fiesta which is coming up, motorcycle events, etc etc. which a lot of vendors set up and sell some cool stuff, there’s food trucks and bouncy houses. It’s really fun and I advise you to look up some of the events which I believe is posted on the sims park website or maybe downtown new port Richey website, if you just type it into Google or Facebook you’ll see! It gets crowded here on weekends and after school gets out but that’s to be expected. There is public bathrooms and water fountains as well!...

Now there is hoodlums wandering around...
