Enjoyed learning about the history of Brown County and the city of New Ulm. Learned it was an industrial and agricultural rival to the Twin Cities and Duluth for flour milling and other industries like cigar manufacturing. The Dakota - United States war was well documented. Only critique is scant information was provided about the causes of the war, I found one paragraph that described the corruption which prevented the Native Americans from getting the resources promised by the treaty.

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff worked with us for 5 hours. (one hour break for lunch) Displays, books, postcards, replicas of vintage toys, very impressive program offerings. If I didn't live in CA , I'd become a member! They had a photo of my great-great grandparents, grandparents of my grandmother, the original immigrants.

We spent the afternoon at the museum and the kids loved the scavenger hunt and the dress up!! Afterwards we had soda and popcorn at the popcorn wagon!! Recommend as a fun family day!

This museum is phenominal! I was highly impressed with the first and third floors. I look forward to checking out the rest of the museum in the future. I am enjoying several, excellent books that I bought in their bookstore. The staff at the Brown County Historical Society is as impressive as the museum itself. I have found them to be very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, both on the phone and in person. They go above and beyond, an example being how they helped me locate my missing...
