My family bought plots in this cemetery about 20 years ago when the cemetery management seemed to care about it. In the last 10 years I have seen this cemetery slowly deteriorate. It's all little things, but the little things add up. There are water spouts all over the cemetery, but good luck finding one that works. First time I called the office to ask about it, I was told that there was a problem with the pipes, ok figured by the next summer it would be fixed but still no water. The next time I called about it, I was told that the city told them to shut off the water because of mosquitos. If this was true, why hasn't the city told the other cemeteries in the area to do the same? I don't appreciate being lied to. Next issue I had was with the tall weeds which at some points have been taller than my children. I called the office to ask about this, and was told the under the perpetual care agreement, they are only required to cut the "grass" 2x a season. Now the final straw is when they closed the entrance on Mt. Olivet and told me the reason for it was just because…because the board voted on it. What about the needs of the people who visit their loved ones? I would not recommend this cemetery to anyone unless management changes their attitude towards the family members of those...
Read moreMy husband visited this week (Easter week 2022). He recalled having gone there in the late '40' and early 50's with his father to visit the graves of his father's parents (German immigrants). Over the intervening years, the place his definitely gone down hill. Grave sites have knocked over or missing markers and stones. Certainly ground heave could have caused the above, but quite a few of the road name signs are missing; although, their posts remain. Ground heave does not climb six or more feet up a pole to remove a road sign at its top. It was a beautiful cemetery, but neglect and obvious vandalism have taken a sad toll. On the plus side, while Covid restrictions are still being adhered to, the office staff is very helpful. Special kudos to Mike the cemetery driver. He not only led the way to the area where the graves of my husband's grandparents are, but got out of the cemetery car to find the actual markers at the sight. A kind courtesy considering All Faiths encloses about one half square miles of...
Read moreI'll be the first to admit that I have little understanding on how a cemetery runs and where all the funds come from. I'm sure it takes a lot of money and man hours to maintain the grounds. However, what I saw today was an absolute disgrace to the people buried there, and their families. I have family buried on both sides. Especially the areas of Frederick, G and H, and William Avenue. In fact the whole area is a mess. (map no 4). I can understand that monuments deteriorate over time, but what about the ones that have fallen or have bushes and small tress growing through them? Or how about raking leaves? Or how about fixing roads if you want to call them that. Shame on the cemetery and the management that runs it. It's sad and disheartening and it's...
