I hoped to have a great experience with High Touch based on all the positive reviews I read, but unfortunately I did not. We hired them for a long distance move from NY to FL. The initial lead up to the move was good, Lisa who I spoke with in the phone multiple times was very friendly and thorough. She told me prior to the move that it would take up to 10 days for our items to arrive, which isn't the most ideal but still doable. On moving day, the movers were over an hour late because they had the incorrect address written down and couldn't find the house. Once they arrived I will say they were very thorough in accounting for every single item, making sure it was numbered and written down. We were assured by them that every item is "handled like it's fragile".
Throughout the time period of waiting for our things to arrive, we hoped there would be some sort of communication as to if the truck was in transit, estimated arrival time, etc. We received no communication at all and even when I called to try and get updates, I wasn't told anything other than "the driver will call you 24 hours before" and "sometime between Tuesday - Friday". Our items were picked up on Monday and I called a week later; this would take us past the 10 day mark we were initially informed about. When I brought this up on the phone, one guy told me it takes up to 14 days for east coast moves, as per the contract. This is not what I was originally told.
I finally received a phone call from the driver informing us he would arrive the following day some time in the early afternoon. The driver didn't arrive until 8pm with a 53 ft semi truck (which isn't the most ideal for apartment complexes). It was never communicated that this was the size of truck they would be bringing, but apparently based on what the driver told us, this is the "norm" for long distances moves. Because of this the driver was nearly unable to enter our apartment complex and we almost had to rent a U-Haul to get our stuff the next day from them. Thankfully this was not the case but the driver was insistent that the truck would not fit for about 45 minutes.
Once the unloading had started, my husband and I were doing a majority of the moving ourselves as the two movers brought a couple of the larger items up to our 2nd floor apartment and spent most of the time unwrapping furniture pieces. For nearly 2 hours my husband and I honestly carried about 75% of the boxes & smaller furniture items up from the truck ourselves.
While the movers were very friendly, it did not seem like there was a sense of urgency to unload a massive semi truck that is blocking traffic in an apartment complex. Our move was not completed until 11pm and we had to remind them to stay quiet multiple times out of respect to our neighbors. I can't imagine what time they would have finished if they handled moving all the boxes as well.
To top all of this off, the next morning we discovered several scratches on our kitchen flooring as no tarps or mats were placed down while the dollies were used. And the biggest problem is that out of roughly 40 boxes, 10 boxes (with many marked as "fragile") were caved in, crushed, and obviously mistreated during the process. This is very far from the of original statement of "every item is treated as fragile."
I'm sure that High Touch Moving is great for local and short-distance moves but I cannot recommend this company for...
Read moreMost of these reviews are fake reviews bought by High Touch Moving to try and make themselves look better than they actually are. This is easy to tell if you look at their Facebook and see that most reviews are from fake accounts that do not have any actual pictures, have no friends, and have left good reviews for many other companies. This is an extremely deceptive tactic and I've reported them to Google and Facebook.
This is an actual review.
On the initial phone call they will begin by telling you whatever you want to hear so that you'll use them. Delivery will be right away, no hidden fees, a lower price than it'll actually be, etc. As soon as you pay your deposit and sign the contract their service immediately goes downhill.
When the movers come to pack your things they will park their truck in the most convenient spot for them regardless of parking signs and then try to get you to pay for any parking tickets they receive for double parking on the street. They will then note on their manifest that any item which looks expensive is already damaged without informing you about it. This is done in case they damage something and you make an insurance claim. They can then point to their manifest and say it was already damaged. They will then say that the cubic foot estimate is over to get you to pay even more. I was told that my small NYC 1 bedroom apartment was using over 600 cubic feet of storage so that they could fleece more money from me. Keep in mind all of this is usually done when you have to move out that day and if there are any disagreements they will say they can just leave while they know you have no other options.
After my things were packed up it took over a month for them to be delivered. I had to sleep on an air mattress the entire time because I didn't have a bed or anything else. I called multiple times to see where my things were and when I could expect a delivery but was met with extreme rudeness and was even hung up on. When they finally did give a date range it was not accurate and ended up coming later than the range they said, after I rearranged travel plans to make sure I was there. They gave less than a 24 hour notice of delivery.
When the movers finally arrive, they will require you to pay before they unpack anything. This is done so they can tack on additional fees and if you don't pay every extra "fee" that they added they will drive away with your things. They have a hidden stair and elevator fee so regardless of which you have there will be an extra few hundred dollars you're paying which you were never told about. There is a fee for how far they have to carry things from the moving truck. I saw them park the truck in a far location and measure the distance from there and then move the truck closer once they started unpacking my things so that I'd have to pay more.
Altogether, I would say this company made a stressful time even more stressful and I ended up paying thousands to not have my things for over a month and be stressed out for the entire time. I would strongly not recommend this company and wish I had just moved my things myself or gotten...
Read moreWorking with High Touch Moving was a completely flawless and great experience. From scheduling and coordinating with Lisa, to working with the movers, my experience was superb! I used High Touch to move my company's NYC office from one floor to a another, with only a week of planning; and while I was in San Francisco! I found High Touch on a Google search and took the chance that all would work out fine. As soon as I spoke with Lisa (who coordinated everything), I knew I made the right decision. I told her what I needed and she made it happen!!!! She was able to secure a moving team that not only moved the furniture, moving crates and boxes, but also assembled all the new furniture, filing cabinets, tables, chairs, etc.; that were ordered online to furnish our new space. The team was consistently on time and onsite to start the move process and then returned to assemble everything! Their movers were all around nice people and they were so organized, professional and super helpful. They broke down all boxes and neatly put all trash in containers. They made sure my office space was well organized and neat before leaving. The entire move project was seamless, thanks to the Lisa and the movers. I also spoke with a couple of the High Touch leaders who were super accommodating and nice professionals to deal with. They checked in with me throughout the move process. Scheduling at the last minute and from across the country could have been a total nightmare, but I believe I totally lucked out with selecting High Touch and have nothing but positive and great praise for the work they did for our organization. It felt like I was dealing with old friends who were completely invested in doing a great...
