I have long hair, so I called up to confirm that they cut long hair and came in for an appointment. I told the barber that I had a job interview the following week so I needed a line up and 2 inches off the length so that I could still tie it up properly.
Instead of 2 inches, he cut off 4-5 inches which was evident by the length of hair on the ground, and because it was difficult to tie up my hair wet, which meant it would be more difficult to do so when it was dry.
When I let him know I wasn’t happy with it, he argued with me and no apology or concession was given. I went up and made my concern known to Marcello but paid for the cut anyway.
After the fact when my hair was dry, I noticed that the barber had missed some of the side lineup, and as predicted there were also stragglers at the back that couldn’t be tied up because my hair was too short. When I called up the next day to ask for it to be remedied, I spoke to Marcello and before I could even ask, he got very defensive, claiming that it was a good cut and there was nothing they could do to fix it.
Once I finally got a chance to speak, I told him it wasn’t a good cut because the barber had taken off more than double what I asked for, and when I asked if Marcello himself could fix the missed spots (because I didn’t want the same barber for obvious reasons), he said they would only do it with the same barber. After an uncomfortable back and forth, I reluctantly agreed, and when I came in, I was predictably given a lot of attitude by the barber when I asked him to fix the other mistakes.
Terrible customer service with no accountability for a cut that was obviously not fit for purpose and needed fixing the following day. The only other time this has ever happened to me before in 15 years of having long hair, the other barbershop in question not only apologized, but also didn’t charge me for the cut, gave me a free beard trim, and a voucher for a free cut on the next visit. This wasn’t even a consideration for Marcello’s Barbershop.
Had they not been so rude and argumentative, I could have forgiven the bad haircut, and wouldn’t be writing...
Read moreBad place so I've been living in lic now for 3 years. This place continues to snub me. Every time I go to it I ask for a haircut they say they cannot do it at this time to come back later. This week that just passed I went in there on the 1st to get a haircut. I was met by a white gentleman who told me that he cannot give me a cut. Because he had people coming even though the barber shop was completely empty. He said that I needed to go online and make a reservation. Yet the sign out says Walk ins welcome it's not a welcome inviting place. Its cruel. Also selective. Even though most of the days it's empty all barbers are rude. I went three times to get a cut and was denied all three times. I will not be going back and I will not be recommending this place to anybody. It's a horrible place with horrible people. I even though my barber retired 2 years ago he still works in Astoria and I will go to see him on those specific dates instead of wasting time on your new barber. Stay away...
Read moreMy husband and I were looking for a close friendly barber. My husband desperately needs a hair cut. We saw this place and looked inside. Looks lovely and clean so we thought we found the right place. My husband walked in to be greeted by the guy who was a complete snob to him. Please note there was no one else in there. No one waiting to be treated. The place was empty. This guts comes from the back room. And saids very hatefully. That he would not treat my husband because he needs an appointment. We understand if it's a busy day but it wasn't. The sign outside the building stated walks in are welcomed.thats a lie. The ones that are welcomed there are repeaters.no new ppl. We will be taking our money and going to friendlier place. I do not recommend this place to anyone. And if your a regular leave and go to a better one that knows how...
