Excellent self-contained rooms with excellent service, good connection to Manhattan and loud elevated trains running next door. 40.745752 -73.945253 Pearson Street is a side street of Jackson Avenue, Long Island City, Queens NY. It is at a junction of 4 subway lines. Below Sonder Court Square, the underground G-train to Brooklyn begins. To its left is the noisy elevated 7-train Court Square station to Manhattan. On Jackson Avenue next to Brooks 1890 restaurant is the entrance to Court Square-23 Street (former 23 Street-Ely Avenue station) for the E- and M-trains to Manhattan. The E-line connects to Jamaica Center-Pearson/Archer for the AirTrain to JFK. The connection between the 3 stations and 4 subway lines is too complicated to explain: search the internet and follow the signs. Summary: Sonder Court Square is perfectly connected to the subways to Manhattan and JFK. Sonder is one of the new hybrid companies like Lyric and Blueground that combine elements of hotels and apartment rentals. Unlike Airbnb, which consists mainly of individuals renting out their homes, Sonder leases and manages its own accommodation, which is licensed as hotels. Sonder Court Square sits above a new 3-year-old 3-storey office building and starts on 4F to 9F. A rooftop bar on 10F awaits completion, as does the Chinese restaurant on 1F and the speak easy bar in the basement. Each level has 12 rooms in different arrangments with 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. The rooms are clean, although the bedding had to be changed due to blood stains. Wi-Fi reception was excellent. The modern rooms are not like the expensive worn-out hotel rooms on Manhattan Island. You have only to take the subway to Manhattan, that’s all. By the way, Queens has many good and not too expensive restaurants and it is much more a local affair without the tourist traps. Sonder Court Square is not designed as a hotel. It has no hotel amenities, such as reception, lunch buffet or bar. It offers self-contained rooms or rental units for short-term stays, although room prices are the same as hotel rates. Each room has a well-equipped kitchen (Trader Joe and Target near), cable television and Wi-Fi reception. You enter with a mobile key (often doesn’t work outside and in elevators) and communicate with an app. Instead of long-term stayers, Sonder attracts short-term hotel guests. Now an employee sits in the corridor behind a makeshift desk to welcome guests, provide information and solve small problems. Their service is essential and appreciated. Thank you, Geraldine & Zack. In May 2023, the only complaint about room 510 on the inside corner without a view was the vibration and noise of the elevated 7-subway trains. When a 7-train passes, the building vibrates and the subway produces the sound of a freight train. Only the noise of the window air conditioner (not a split air conditioner) masked the sound of the subway a little. A generator of white noise is available. If you scroll down to the bottom of the app, there is a disclaimer. Bring your earplugs. Choose a room on Pearson Street. Geraldine found room 908 on the 9th floor on the Jackson Avenue side. Still the same subway noise, but without the vibrations and a very nice view on Manhattan Island. Rooms 1, 10, 11 and 12 on the inside have no view and are noisy, rooms 6, 7, 8 and 9 on Jackson Avenue are noisy but have a view and rooms 2, 3, 4 and 5 on Pearson Street have no view but are less noisy. Sonder Court Square offers clean and well-maintained self-contained rooms with excellent service, good connections to Manhattan and loud elevated trains running next door. Recommended with ear plugs.

The worst experience ever. 最差. From the hotel room to the customer service it was a horrendous experience. The high decibel noise from the New York’s old subway literally every single minute is a nightmare. When you check in and realize booking this hotel was a mistake, it will be too late. Last minute booking in NYC is impossible. You don’t want to take risks like myself. PLEASE STAY AWAY. Check in process was messy, lobby looks like a construction field. The room I got was disgusting with body hairs/pet hairs, bath sink was dirty. They got me another room which was smelly with the opened drawers(!) like a ghost house. The hallway and elevators were also stinky. Very difficult to take an elevator as the mobile key provided doesn’t work. I asked to move my room and thought finally settling but a fake fire alarm rang but no one took care of it. I called customer service the high decibel of noice from the old train was not expected and the service representative said there is a disclaimer. This “disclaimer” is written at the bottom in the other tabs on the app so you cannot see it when you make a resevation unless you scroll down it at the bottom. Even if you find it, it says “may present noise” but it is false information as you can here the high decibel noise of the oldest subway of US literally every single minute. They would send me a white noise machine. Online customer rep said they delivered it in front of my room. But it wasn’t. I said it wasn’t delivered but they didn’t believe me. I talked to another service rep and that person said the same thing. I checked my door front but it wasn’t. After 3 hours, I contacted customer rep again and this person asked me what my room number was as they may confuse the room. I talked to another rep and found that it was in my nightstand drawer. Can’t believe any simple delivery if service is so difficult at this property and Sonder. The white noise machine I struggled to get for 4 hrs was like a joke. If you use it in this room with didn’t work at all. It was like a joke. Coffee machine also didn’t work. They brought one 40 mins later I requested in the morning and the new one they brought was dusted and dirty. I’m not here to clean a hotel’s coffee machine. Lost my words. Every single thing at this hotel is horrendous. How come every single thing can be messed up like this? I had this feeling this is not because Imm unlucky, Sonder has a serious problem on people and property management. Even before the checking in, the reservation was also a nightmare. One of service representative accidently canceled few nights of my reservation and they charged more to recover the reservation because the rate is flexible depends of the occupancy. I traveled 30+ countries including developing countries, I do understand and have experienced different unexpected situations while traveling but Sonder is the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Don’t scammed by fake reviews. Please stay away from this place and Sonder if you don’t want to ruin your travel. *Tripadvisor wouldn’t post my review and photos. Don’t trust the fake reviews

It was my first time visiting New York and staying at a Sonder location. My family and I chose to stay at Sonder Court Square located in Long Island City, Queens, New York away from busy Manhattan.||First off, the location of this Sonder was perfect. It's across the East River from Manhattan and sits along the 7, E and F metro lines. It is also close to the G line that takes you into Brooklyn. It takes only 10-15 min to get into Midtown Manhattan and only a 1-5 min walk to the metro stations as soon as you step out of the Sonder. (Court Square station on the 7 line is right across the street with the station on the F and E line about 5 minutes away.||A huge plus was the fact that Trader Joe's, Target and Court Square Diner were all extremely close to grab groceries or a quick breakfast/late night bite.||The week before our arrival, Sonder had offered to upgrade my room at no extra cost from a studio to a 1 bedroom apartment. This completely surprised me as I've never been upgraded for anything (flights, hotels, etc.). Their customer service through Chat, Email and Text was excellent to answer any questions, resolve any issues and make special requests.||Our Sonder was quite spacious with a separate bedroom with a comfortable firm queen bed and living/dining/kitchen space. This helped a lot as we were travelling with a baby that needed peace and quiet at night to sleep. We had no issues with train noise by the way. Sonder offers a white noise machine that we didn't use but that's because we had our own for our baby.||The apartment was well stocked with towels, soaps, toiletries, as well as kitchen items like coffee, tea, cutlery, cooking utensils, pots and pans, washing sponges, paper towel, kettle, coffee machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, mini dishwasher and 2 burner stove with range hood above. The only thing that was missing in my unit was cooking oil and salt (there was pepper but I'm assuming that was leftover from a previous guest?)||When we arrived, our unit was clean and looked exactly as it did in pictures. Our heater was left on for our arrival and our requested high chair was already in our room. The only downside we experienced was that there was no available pack 'n play for my daughter to sleep in. This was not that much of an issue as she slept fine on our queen bed but we would've preferred her own bed.||Staff at Court Square were extremely kind and polite, greeting us and holding the front door for us as we came and went. That was extremely helpful as we would sometimes have our stroller out or the weather was windy and raining and it saved us the time from entering the access code everytime.||The last thing I will mention about Sonder Court Square is the cost! We stayed in the middle of December during peak season and the cost was extremely reasonable compared to the tiny but expensive spaces we found at hotels and Airbnbs. Due to New York state Airbnb laws around short term rentals, we opted to not go with Airbnb as we wanted our own space as well as a fully stocked kitchen. Sonder ended up being the only option that checked all our boxes. Price was very good and we had to deal with USD to CAD conversions!||I would definitely recommend staying with Sonder at their Court Square location....
