Island Chateau — Attraction in New York

Our first party there was nice and although they were under partial construction we were accommodated. The second interaction with this establishment was awful. As previous patrons we knew what to expect, or so we thought, except the rates were much higher just a year and a half later even though we were known to then as repeat guests. We still decided to move forward and then The pandemic hit. We were told we would not receive a deposit back and could only book another date. This was for a communion that didn’t happen and we were no longer interested in a party that would not have been safe. Not to mention the facility was shut down. We were told it was “only” a deposit (a $1000!) and that they were slow and didn’t have it back to give. So I asked that instead they honor that deposit with possible catering worth the same amount as a future credit. I was told no. It was not only about losing the money but how disrespectfully it was communicated. If it was ONLY a grand it should have been returned. The fact that any other compromise could not be made except throwing another party was even considered is ridiculous - we are not the reason the pandemic happened (nor are they) and this was not a wedding that could just be rescheduled but an 8 year older boys communion who had a parent with cancer and two grandparents who are also high risk. It was something done virtually a year before it was truly safe to book. A party was not on the list of priorities- I feel that the business should have been Orr understanding and willing to compromise and have at this point just returned the deposit in a gesture of good will. The Island Chateau recently hosted us along with our family and friends for our son's first birthday, and we couldn't be happier with the entire experience. Tammy, one of the owners, was incredibly helpful in helping us to plan the party, and promptly and knowledgeably answered all of our questions. She connected us with a great centerpiece vendor as well as a great DJ that could entertain the adults as well as the other kids.

On the day of the party, we were greeted with a great maitre d', and an excellent staff. The service was professional, friendly, and extremely on-point. The food was excellent, everything was cooked to perfection. My guests came to me with nothing but compliments about it. The dessert stations were the talk of the party as well. I definitely recommend the cannoli station. It was a hit!

The room was beautifully decorated. We went for a Mickey Mouse theme, as our son absolutely loves that mouse. Together with the centerpieces and the table linens, the room was decorated perfectly to fit the theme.

We all had a great time, and there isn't anything I would change. The Island Chateau is a great place to host a party. I definitely recommend it. Ask for Tammy,...

I don't know how I forgot to put a review, maybe because I've had so much going on. Now that I remember, I'll say this. I put a deposit down on the beginning of March 2020 for my daughter's sweet 16. Then it had to be canceled because of the covid pandemic. They refused to give me my money back but told me I can always have another party there for a different date later on. So the next year, I figured let me see if we can schedule a party, and ended up paying a little more, thinking that covid was getting better. Nope!!! So on top of still not having any party here, the pandemic is still around, and I'm at a loss of over $3,000.00. It's horrible that they won't return your money due to something like this. I have many auto immune and chronic health issues, that I cannot risk throwing a big party and God forbid, catching covid. I am very displeased with this place and I would like to say that is not a way to ruin a business. They get more than enough business from other people, that those who are scared to throw a big party due to the pandemic, should be refunded all their money!!!! I think I will end up getting a...
