Jack’s Barbershop — Attraction in New York

First time I came here, the owner took four phone calls during my haircut and rushed to get me done, so I stopped coming, but the other barber I went to moved so I gave this place another shot because the reviews are good.

I had Isaac, and I was worried after I tried to explain what I wanted that we weren't on the same page, so I went with, keep the same style I have and trim this much. I had to stop him shortly in because it was clear he still wasn't understanding. I ended up with a haircut I really hate, it's not what I asked for, it's not the style I came in with, and it'll take half a year to grow out enough for me to try and fix it. Leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because I tried to be polite and say it wasn't entirely his fault, and I guess it was clear I was really unhappy and he didn't charge me. I think this is another place where all the barbers are shown how to do one type of haircut and only cut hair a certain way, and ultimately he didn't know how to give me the same style I had, but I rather you tell me that, or ask me more questions instead of giving me a haircut I hate and rushing me out the door for your next appointment.

Amazing service. I called bc I got locked out of my apartment and was going to miss my appointment and I was all stressed out about it bc they have a disclaimer for missing your appt and charge a fee. But I called using the bodegas phone around the corner from my place and a very nice lady answered and was very understanding she was able to move my appt for a later time but I couldn’t do that until I knew when I could get back into my apt as my phone, car keys and wallet were all in my home. Luckily I was able to get in shortly after. I called back and the lady remembered me and made light of the situation and was glad I was able to get back in as it was very hot out. I never got her name but I do appreciate her understanding and professionalism. Overall I was able to get an appt and wasn’t charged a fee for having to miss my original one. I recently moved to Bed Stuy and was in search for a good barbershop not far from me. I happened to stumble upon Jack’s Barbershop this past Saturday (5/15) and decided to book an appointment. I arrived 5 min before my appointment and was seated immediately.

I didn’t explain what haircut I wanted really well but I gave my barber a rough description of what I wanted and he understood exactly what I was looking for. I told him to “trim my hair on the side, leave some at the top and make it look like a combover but no jel”. The haircut came out perfectly. And he managed to cut my hair in 20/25 min tops which is pretty efficient.

At the end, I found out that Jack himself gave me a haircut! He took care of me and his staff was extremely professional. Truly a pleasure.
