As of this posting 12/19/22, food universe seems to be reopening with an opening date of December 23rd 2022. This food universe has been very convenient and not too overpriced as many people might say, they do weekly sales and have wide international offerings. Deli is clean and produce is generally fresh but a hit or miss for me personally. I was sad to see it close and relieved to see it plans to reopen. Great neighborhood supermarket.

This particular store is a little small. Definitely has the feel of a neighborhood grocery. Not a bad selection. Not as extensive as a larger market for sure. Fairly busy in the middle of the day. Pricing about what you'd expect. Parking lot a plus. Having to park on the street and be in a store for an extended amount of time is crazy. The lot is not huge but it helps just to have one. Would recommend.

Large market with various departments--produce, meats, bakery and deli counter. The prices are significantly higher than other markets. This is probably because they are the only supermarket in the area. Terrible customer service in the deli department. I shop at this place when I absolutely cannot get to my regular store.

any people often only complain about services, but I would like to give a "Great Shout Out" to Store Mgr. Mgr Lawrence Johnson for going "Above & Beyond" in assisting me and my wife on July 21st.

On that day we were going to a family reunion BBQ and was rushing to get some items from market upon exiting at the door somehow my personal bag fell or got hooked around the exit door way. After loading out van in front of the market I noticed my bag missing which included my wallet containing my license, medical cards, bunch of credit cards & $300. I searched the van, exit the cash register area frantically. There was a gentleman, I believe is name was Mike who was filling the ice machine who helped my and directed me to the Store Mgr. Mr. Lawrence Johnson. He then spent nearly 2hrs with me going over security camera footage until we located the person who was right behind me who pick up the picked up the my bag and hid it in their cart under their groceries knowing it was mine, not 5 feet in front of them, searching crazy for it.

Once the person was seen on the video Mr Johnson tracked down the person's name by tracing them back via their description & grocery items, to their exiting register and then their Keyfood store card. At that point Mr. Johnson said we can contact the police and provide the information. I requested since it was an elder person perhaps he could contact them and get them to return it. My wife and I left the office while he spoke convincingly to the person and convince them to return the bag to him at the store. They quickly did and he returned it to us and we were able to make it to the family reunion BBQ late but highly relieved.

I like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Lawrence & the "Mike" for all their help, time, patience for definitely going "Above & Beyond" in helping me. I have already let many people know about him at this store's location. Wish there were many more dedicated people like him. BTW, he ALSO refuse to accept any reward so please make sure that this letter goes in his file...

There is way too much stocking of merchandise during store hours. It blocks aisles with boxes to trip over and stockers often block customers from reaching items. Cashiers do not have to yell “Next!” It is rude and unnecessary. People can see what line is free or open to go to without the yelling . Very unnecessary. Please consider adding self-checkout or updating cash register areas b/c there is so little space for items to go and your system of cashiers rushing customers before items are even bagged —to get to the next customer is ridiculous. Especially, when there isn’t any real line of other customers to rush for. Getting stared down by angry-looking front end managers while checking out is extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable. Some of the cashiers are helpful and respectful I do wish they would place actual sale items tickets/signs under the actual sale item . I thought this Keyfood was better than Whitestone, but I was wrong. Not better, just different. Nothing is worse than having the male manager in the front —walk over every time I check out to stare me down , unsmiling , (never speaks or says any greeting) as if I stole something! Everytime. Hard stare. And guess what dude? I DON’T steal! Try watching /profiling other customers who actually do or may steal—- or better yet, keep an eye on your workers instead of constantly & consistently making this loyal customer feel uncomfortable! Soon to not be a customer. Very chaotic , unpleasant...

Liked it at first because it's 2 blocks away, but now I cannot stand this store. They have food that's expired on the shelf I am constantly bringing home, ( my husband bought organic milk today and it expires in 4 days this is unheard of) they won't exchange it because I am told it was my fault because it's old, that they don't sell the item when clearly it is a store brand. Their meats are grey in color and again at the sell by date. They also like changing prices and never honor sale signs. If there is a sign hanging with a sale price and it isn't on sale, the sign should be taken down. The signs will tell you one price and the cashier will tell you something different, in which they stop to look at the flyer. Their produce is horrible it goes bad the next day. The manager is rude and should not be in customer service. I've been speaking to other people in the area and they all say the same about this store. I rather drive the extra mileage to go to fairway or shop & stop where the employees are nicer, the food is better (more fresh), and can always get a shopping cart. The health department should shut this place down my husband has bought ham from here the 3 last 3 times it was yellow he literally thought it was turkey. The social distance line down one isle is ridiculous especially the freezer isle. I Rather go to Marino's for cold cuts they should open a 3rd location here. Order my produce from fresh direct or amazon. Bjs for...
