One of my absolute favorite places in all of NYC. Prospect Park is glorious enough, being a relaxing oasis of nature and serenity, but the Bandshell is a vital organ. The stage is large and can be seen from a good distance away. The setup is impeccable for a forested grove. The front half of the viewing area is concrete and depending on the show will either feature standing room area (for paid shows) or metal seats neatly arranged into rows (for free shows), or a combination of both. The back half of the area is grassy and peppered with trees so it is the perfect place to relax or have a picnic. The sound isn't the best if you're sitting in the lawn area but it is good enough.
The food here is delicious while a bit pricey. It typically consists of 4-5 dishes that are health-conscious or at the very least classy. The beer/alcohol is $7-$8 and water is $2. The workers are absolutely wonderful and nice. The bathrooms are a combination of Porta-potties and the public park restrooms though I've been here before where the restrooms are closed.
If you have the option, choose to come to Prospect Park, you'll...
Read moreNice venue to see performances. Celebrate Brooklyn does a great job each summer putting on the performances. Unlike Central Park you are allowed to bring chairs and food. The benefit shows usually don't provide seats for the general population (people either stand near the front or sit in the grass). The free shows do have thousands of chairs (or bring your blanket or chair and sit in the grass. The grass slopes upwards providing good sightlines. Be environmental and bring a refillable water bottle as there are two water stations [it'll also save you buying the $5 "Liquid Death" cans of water]. There are two entrances to the venue- 9th St. and 11th St. 11th St. is much less busy and if there are long lines it is the better way to get in. Don't bring cans or bottles. There is security at the gates and they will...
Read moreGreat venue for a concert! Came here for the Club Quarantine event with D Nice! Logistically the space ia well put together. Plenty of porta potties so there ar no lines. Bring a portable chair. If you bring a blanket people will be stepping on and all over your nice blanket before the night is over. The consession atand food was actually quite good. Burger and fries rivaled some of my favorite burger joints. Bring your wallet. Burger and fries and Mozzarella sticks and fries was 32.00. My only real complaint was that while there is basicall no line to order food, the line to pick up your order is long and it does not move quickly. Also, no drinks allowed in so if you intend to byob make sure you masquerade it well. I would give this venue a 4.75 and reserve my 5 for when that food line starts...
