LOOKING DOWN is, once in a while, the thing to do in New York. Even in midtown Manhattan, which is all about verticals and top of the world companies in tall towers. But smack center amid the upness are sidewalks beckoning your attention and wanting you to look down to something higher in all of us. Find the quote in Library Walk that sings to you or makes you pause, photograph it and pass it on, I ask. Walt Whitman would.

People always tell you to look up and watch where you’re going, but if I wasn’t looking down at my feet, I would’ve missed out on the creative writing on the sidewalk. I’m sharing some of my favourite brass plates, but feel free to walk the walk, on the streets of New York, and choose the ones that resonate the most with you.

If you start from Maddison and east 41st street you will see signs on the sideway marking the start of the library walk. Make sure you check out both sides of e 41st st

Heading towards Bryant Park from 41st and Park. I noticed these metal plaque set in the sidewalk. I took photos of a number of them and them came across one that described library walk. I don't know the extent, but they go all the way to the front of the New York public library. At some point in the future I'll find the beginning and end and photograph everyone little bit of video so you know exactly where everyone is. This is put together by the Grand Central partnership, which I believe might be the largest business improvement district in the US and certainly in New York City. They're pretty proactive and do a great job in...
