This is the second Stout location I'd visited recently. This location had great service, food, and atmosphere. Since it's so close to Grand Central, it's great that they have a screen protecting the updated departures for the trains.
We were a party of eight, celebrating a birthday, before going to see a show. Half of us arrived early, but were able to be seated right away. We had drinks and appetizers while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive from their train. We had the giant pretzel (which had a perfect amount of salt and was accompanied by both a cheese sauce and a mustard sauce), the fried calamari (which was lightly breaded, nicely fried, and accompanied by a tasty, creamy dipping sauce), and a small order of buffalo chicken wings (very tasty and served with blue cheese, carrots, and celery). I got the kinamona to drink and it was very good...I ended up ordering a second one! (Allspice-infused Bacardi rum, pineapple juice, apple cider, fresh lime juice, cinnamon simple syrup, peach bitters)
Most of the group got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich (which has a great sauce, coleslaw, and pickles on a fresh, fluffy bun), two got the Stout Burger, which was tasty and cooked medium-well, as ordered, and I got the Sweet & Spicy Cauliflower appetizer as my meal.
We also ordered a few different on-tap beers and IPAs. There is a good-sized variety to choose from, so it's easy to find something to suit all tastes.
Our waitress was fantastic. Very attentive and responsive.
Love the close location to Grand Central and we will...
Read moreManager was condescending and rude. We were sitting at the bar when we saw a table sitting open for a while so we moved over. The staff told us to let the front know which we did. The manager Seemed extremely frustrated and felt the need to explain to us five adults, that it was a restaurant and how a restaurant works and how you have to go to hostess and wait for a table. First of all, this was a giant bar with tables in the back And there does not seem to be any dividing line between bar and tables. So I am quite sure this happens all the time and perhaps causes frustration, which means you put a little sign on the table to avoid it in the future. I have owned my own restaurants. You never talk to a customer like that. There’s absolutely no need for it. If somebody was waiting for the table, simply come over and let us know that and apologize. If you’re having a rough night, well, welcome to restaurant management! I can’t imagine things like this don’t happen all the time so get yourself into wraps. Anyhow, the food was yummy and fast. The menu is a little busy and we missed mozzarella sticks, And the drinks were pricey. Whoever put 20 to 30 bucks down as price here was way off base. It’s at least 50 a head for just an appetizer and two drinks. Plus tip. The place is nice though, clean, not too loud because of the high ceilings and a great space overall. And our waitress was amazing. She was very cool and we had a good time. Everyone was great except their manager. I feel bad for them. I don’t think...
Read moreI came here with a group of 8 for Superbowl Sunday and it was a very mixed experience, mostly negative. Food came out fast and everything was affordable. The food was semi-hot, but didn't seem extremely fresh (could be because of the Superbowl demand). My friend got a beer that was super watered down and later we also had a ginger ale that was also not carbonated. They still charged us for both. Lots of TVs for viewing and open space though.
However the worst part of the experience was an extremely rowdy group. There was a drunk man making racist comments to our table and heckling other patrons of the opposing team he was rooting for as well as yelling at the bartender. When he first made racist noises at us, we decided to not tell the manager as we hoped it would calm down...but in hindsight we regret not bringing it up sooner. He was completely disrespectful to everyone, spouting inappropriate names/slurs, and caused many people to leave. Once we did tell the manager towards the end of the game, he went over to talk to them, but did NOT kick them out. I understand that the establishment can't control who comes to the bar, but I do think if there is continued harassment, Stout should have forced their party to leave. It's a respectable sports bar not a home watch party... We won't...
