On June 19, 2022, at approximately 8:15 am, I walked over to the register at Met Fresh of Morris Park supermarket to pay for my 3 articles. When I approached the cashier, I asked him if they have Enfamil Gentlease available for purchase. The cashier said yes and asked how many did I want. I responded 7. He then proceeded to tell me that he could only sell me 1 as "we prefer to conserve it for people with W.I.C". I asked him if my daughter was different than those who could qualify for such assistance. I then told him that I couldn't take one as I specifically came here to purchase milk and that I prefer to leave everything that I came for. He stated OK and said have a good day. I walked out in disbelief and sadness. I then sat in my car, cried, and decided to call the police at 8:29 am in an effort of making a report. After some time, the police took a bit long, I decided to go back into the supermarket and ask the cashier what was his name. He stated "Miguel". He asked why did I want his name. I informed him that I wanted to report him because he made me feel really bad and that I needed his last name. He ignored me and asked if I wanted to purchase 4 or 5 cans of Enfamil Gentlease. I informed him that he'd already made me feel saddened by what he said and I just needed his last name. I questioned him regarding why he didn't have a sign up that limited the quantity that a customer was able to purchase. He said because that was illegal. I asked him, so why does Walmart do it? then I said, "so, it's not illegal for you to refuse to sell me the baby formula with cash instead of W.IC? I said, "sir, I just need your last name". He said, "my last name is Garcia". I said that all I needed. Thank you. Sarcastically, he "said god bless your daughter" while I was walking out which made the situation worse.
I explained the situation to the police later and they were able to provide a ICAD # which is 220619*.
No parent should ever feel this way when it comes to purchasing food for your child. Met Fresh of Morris Park supermarket lost more than a can of formula. Met Fresh of Morris Park supermarket lost 7 cans of baby formula plus what I was going to purchase. In addition to a faithful customer that makes frequent purchases at this location only. I've never experienced something like this in my life. This only led me to believe that this supermarket received some sort of stipend for using W.I.C or a price gouge that he didn't want to make me...
Read moreMy family and I will not be returning. I never leave negative reviews but what happened here is so unfortunate. My father questioned the price of an item. Whether he was right or wrong on the price, he made the purchase without issue... he was only asking. As he exited, he was approached by the manager WHO WAS WAITING OUTSIDE FOR HIM. The manager said âIâm coming to you man to manâ and accused my father of trying to confuse the girls in order to get a cheaper price for the item and stated that he has done that before. My father then reminded him that he has only spoken to him 2x beforehand regarding spoiled bread and inquiring about a specific milk brand in which the manager agreed that itâs true. This is a supermarket; a customer questioning the price of an item is an everyday occurrence and shouldâve been a nonissue so why wait outside to confront a customer who did NOTHING WRONG? We have been coming to this location for over 20 years so the treatment he received...
Read moreGreat price, great deals, and nice staff. Manager is very helpful and well stocked. I seldom write reviews. The factors I always consider is quality, price, staff, management, stock, and variety. This place is way decent in variety, quality is good specually the produce and meat, grocerues are not only well stock but neatly, staffs are great, management is attentive to clients need. Prices are just beautiful specially in this times of crazy inflation and corporate price hike - they keep a well line of products on special and they are awesome. Been to other places and this Bronx nieghborhood Supermarket is way better than some that I know in Manhattan. This is a must place to go if you are...
