I hate leaving a negative review when the salon itself is generally a good place and the nail techs do great work but feel like this needs to be said. I've been to NOTD 6 times in a row these last few months and since the very beginning of my visits, I have not been greeted with any sort of respect or decency from their main nail tech Mina Pan. For no reason whatsoever, she is very short, cold, and rude with me right off the bat. I have hesitated going back many times because of her, but kept giving it another chance since the techs tend to do a decent job and the place is convenient for me to get to. After this experience with Mina doing my manicure from start to finish, I have to say this is the tip of the iceberg. I'm a very simple customer, I don't ask for anything complicated. I ask for one color and the hard gel that they recommend to avoid breakage. I am a very quiet person and have always been very respectful to the staff. I honestly think she takes advantage of this, thinking I would just continually put up with her disrespect. I ask very few and fair questions as needed and they're always met with such harsh and hostile answers, as if I'm inconveniencing her in the worst possible way. I hate to say it, but I've never seen her treat other customers (usually caucasian) in the same way and by stark contrast is much friendlier with them. She did not even say hi to me today, but greeted everyone else that came in after me. She came back from walking her dog, didn't wash her hands (something they ask of every customer when they arrive), literally sat down and started my manicure. The owner always recommends that I get 'hard gel' so that is what I ask for. Yet the salon uses the words hard gel and overlay interchangeably making it very confusing, and though I still don't see a difference between them, they both have different prices. I asked for hard gel only to find out I got an overlay in the end which costs more. They do a poor job of explaining in advance what will be done, and then blame the customer for not understanding when it comes to payment. Whatever, no big deal, I didn't fuss and still paid the higher amount and tipped. She rushed through my manicure today and aggressively filed my nails way too short and unevenly after I requested only a tiny bit shorter. She did not check if I was okay with the length (the way the other techs usually do) and I could just feel the hate spewing from her as she is doing my nails in a very rushed manner. There's no reason for hostility towards paying customers. What's supposed to be a very relaxing experience and to most people a 'self-care treat', is instead the most tense and unpleasant experience with her. I previously put up with it because I'm a practical person, I just want to get the job done and I have extremely low expectations for customer service. I'm happy to pay for good service and then some - for whatever extra treatment they recommend - but cannot, and will not tolerate hostility and...
Read moreWell first off, my cuticles are bleeding because they cut my skin off when doing the manicure.
otherwise, this was truly the most mind-boggling experience I’ve ever had in a nail salon. I have never been spoken to more disrespectfully by employees in my life. They applied the wrong gel color to my feet, and I did not have time for them to drill the color off and change it. she then tried to apply the original color over the wrong color. So then she had to take that off, and I was apologizing for the misunderstanding, but only getting an attitude in return. Any time I needed to switch my feet or move, the nail tech was impatient and bossy. When it was time to pay, I asked if there was anything they could do, like maybe take a little bit of the total price off, which out came to $230 (I also got a apres manicure, still, insane prices) I got berated and yelled at by three employees who went back-and-forth between speaking to me and bad mouthing me to one another in a different language.
Do not go here, it is awful vibes. I was calmly trying to meet them with kindness and compromise To see what we could work out, and I was completely taken aback.
By the way, I paid, and then they had the audacity to yell at me for not tipping them! Saying I refused to tip!! There wasn’t even an option to tip when I signed? and to be honest, I wouldn’t have. Why would I!?
The whole thing was overall just a weird and negative experience and I will never be going back and I suggest you don’t either. bummed out that I have to spend however long before my next manicure with these bad vibes from these bad vibe people on...
Read moreCame here based on online recommendations and had a horrible experience. The nail technician I had was extremely rude to me and rough with my nails. I was verbally berated the entire visit and my nail service was rushed. She was impatient and agitated with me the second I sat down at her station and I’m not really sure why. God forbid I made a single request regarding how MY nails are done. When I went to pay there was no option to tip on the credit card machine and I didn’t inquire about it because I had no intentions to tip based on the terrible service I received. As I turned to leave however the front desk gentleman yelled out asking if I wasn’t going to tip. I apologized saying I don’t carry cash and he proceeded to ask me if I had Venmo, and then said he could charge my credit card when I said I had no Venmo. At this point I felt pressured to tip so I left 15% and he was visibly upset at the fact I didn’t leave more and didn’t say another word to me after charging me out. Tipping is NOT mandatory anywhere, and chasing your customers down for tips is extremely tacky and unprofessional. The entitlement at this salon was insane. Nobody wants to go pay $120 at the nail salon to be bullied, treated horribly, and have their nails rushed to get done. Based on the other bad reviews in here I’m sure the manager will respond to this in some childish way blaming me for her staff’s embarrassingly rude behavior- which only goes to show the type of experience you will have here. Save your hard earned money and go literally...
