As an active member, ā€œgym ratā€, as a lifestyle & way of life to stay fit & healthy for many years, I, like others, are highly dissatisfied with NYSC, Queens NY because Mgmt has eliminated essential membership services causing deteriorating conditions for its gym & more importantly its revenue source, its memberships! I’d not recommend this gym simply because its new owner & Mgmt implemented such policies/practices as ā€œLess is Moreā€; that is, less services for its members & more money for Mgmt. Without prior notice, Mgmt. removed such essential services as 1) paper towel dispenser; 2) paper towels to wipe our hands; 3) Kleenex to blow our nose; 4) disinfectant spray dispenser; 5) paper towels to wipe/clean equip before & after use; 6) cloth towels to use during daily workouts even during showers! 7) reduced & limited # of gym classes!; (8) cleanliness of gym equipment remains dirty after use as a result of eliminating disinfectant sprays & paper towels to wipe machines after use. Instead, Mgmt replaced them with limited numbers of dispensers for Purcell wipes (2) & hand (1) located in basement & first floors plus one wipe & one hand dispensers on the third floor, all of which tend to be depleted & unavailable for easy & convenient use to wipe off equipment. Further, Mgmt improperly shifted their chief responsibility to clean equipments to members. As a result, virtually all equipment tend NOT to be free of bacteria & dirt since the task of cleaning equipment is abandoned & left undone by Mgmt! Tip: Avoid joining this stripped down, filthy gym & carry out your due diligence research, I’d suggest checking out other gyms where many former NYSC members have gone. Chief aim is to get More for your money rather than getting Less services for your membership at a service-driven gym. You’ll not find such high quality services @ NYSC Whitestone. Final note: NYSC is a unhealthy, filthy, roach & mold infested gym as roaches infest & roam freely & mold spread in bathrooms!!

I used a guest pass to this gym and really enjoyed it.The equipments are fairly new and well-maintained, spent time in sauna after a workout session made my day exceptional, I was thinking about getting a membership but I checked the comment sectionā€¦šŸ˜³

This is definitely the best gym neighborhood. There’s a humongous parking lot. You never have to worry about parking. It’s a weird shape building with three floors, but it gets the job done.

I’ve been a member since 2019 and had some ups and downs with the gym as I move and go to another establishment for my fitness.

Pros: With being on an alumni rate of pay and convenience in location and parking, it was my go to gym for the time living in Whitestone. You have access to a decent amount of equipment and if you’re familiar with a gym setting, you have enough options to add a variety to your workouts. It’s probably the cheapest gym in this area. Front desk gets a lot of hate, but they do their job and never had immediate issues with them or management personally. If you come here just to workout, it’s not that bad.

Cons: it’s rare if someone re racks or cleans items nor is it established by staff to do so. You will find items scattered all over and sometimes in the same place for days without it being touched or properly returned. Expect to return someone else’s weights or equipment often. These maintenance people have had to unclog these toilets so often because of people purposely stuff them with tissues. Give those people a shoutout, the amount they have to clean up after people is disrespectful tbh. weekday and weekend front desk are never on the same page, it’s like talking to two different establishments There’s been a few times I’ve witnessed people smoke bud in here. Wild. Keep check if a card is continuing payments or not. If expired, no one will tell you most of the time and you’ll have to pay what is accumulated as your account is still active. I’ve had my locker busted open on me on one occasion. Nothing was done and there’s not much they can do. This isn’t common but I don’t bring anything of value in here unless it’s on me. Get a good lock. Peak hours are very hectic. 3-5 pm when the high school students get out is pretty rough. If you like space, I suggest off peak hours. Equipment runs down or is out pretty often. Turn around on fixing it isn’t long, but just don’t expect most things to keep up. if you like new gym equipment, this is not your gym. Some items in here are probably older than me. If it works, it works, but don’t expect anything too new or fancy like in...

A lot of people seem upset about billing issues — I’ve never had any, so I get the feeling that those issues are very unique and maybe even a bit of user error. I’ve had to change cards many times, gone on hiatuses because of injuries, even canceled my membership once because I thought I was moving and never had a billing issue. It’s interesting how well things will go if you follow directions and try to keep things as simple as possible. The gym itself is nothing special, though I wouldn’t say it’s anything bad. 90% of the population (that aren’t going to the classes) are college bros and hos, so if you’re trying to plan your workout around that, try to imagine when a teenager or young 20 year old would NOT be working out and go then. The guys crowd around machines in groups of 5 and behave as if they’re in a club (no pun). The girls seem ultra focused as they execute their exercises incorrectly and are very quick to accuse you of staring at outfits that are obvious pleas for attention. There is a small population of very serious, productive gym goers, and they seem to be in the 35+ category. A lot of the people that go are regulars, so you will definitely see the same faces over again if you go regularly, and it’s almost impossible not to make at least an acquaintance or two (or an enemy or two) if you do. The classes I mentioned have huge waves of people that come and go, not really being present at all on the actual workout floor, so their presence isn’t really felt. I’ve never been to one of their classes, but they seem to be popular. When it gets busy, it’s BUSY, though I’ve never waited too, too long for a machine or weight. I’ve heard the locker rooms and/or some of the advertised amenities are not really good, if they even exist at all; but honestly I don’t need any of that and have never really investigated the issue. I’ve never used their personal training services, but they seem to be surprisingly busy. All things considered, for the price, I would say it’s worth it. In the area itself, I don’t really know of any alternative gym, especially...
