A little bit of history for you…

Titanic’s final destination was to be Pier 59 which was owned by the White Star Line. Instead, the Titanic survivors arrived in New York on the Carpathia, a Cunard Line ship. After a brief stop at Pier 59 to drop off the lifeboats from Titanic, the Carpathia traveled a few blocks south to dock at the Cunard pier, Pier 54. Anxious crowds of people, numbering in the thousands, awaited the arrival of the Carpathia and news of loved ones.

The same pier also played a pivotal role in another ill fated ship disaster. Just three years later, in 1915, the ship Lusitania left from Pier 54 before being torpedoed by a German U-boat off the coast of Ireland on May 7. The Lusitania sank in less than 20 minutes, killing almost all of the 2,000...

New York is a great town. Beautiful place and people. I came across this pier while walking and wandering around. The pier had amphitheaters, musical features, as well as so many other things. Seeing all the features, architecture, and things they are doing in New York gave me a good kind of hope. And to be in a large city was neat as it is. I really would like to visit again and stay longer as well as see more of night life, music life, jazz life, and...

Very cool views. Came here to relax after a long day at work. Took an Uber had to get away from the crazyness while everyone else went to party. Wish I brought my film Canon camera. Would’ve been great for pictures. I came to New York for a different mission. To enjoy my few days there and not miss things by being on my phone. I miss New York and my job I had there...

The Titanic was supposed to dock here! Now it’s home to Little Island, a beautiful park floating on the Hudson near Chelsea Market. Built on tulip-shaped pillars, it opened in 2021 and offers peaceful gardens, walking paths, and a small theater. A perfect spot to relax, take photos, and enjoy river views. Free to enter and truly unique!

Impressive architectural addition to NYC collection of renovated piers, however somewhat overhyped in my view. Little Island looks beautiful from riverfront and views of Hudson River are most memorable. Internal layout of the pier’s park is just ok, but maybe because I have visited it in winter.

Nice experimental structure in the water. The landscaping seems pretty pointless to me. There is a path going up and down and up and down with a large theatre space in the middle. Apart from the theatre which has zero shade, there are no places to sit. The views are nice though.
