Gorgeous views and chill vibes that gradually turn into dance time (unsullied by the typical lewd radio radio hits)? I approve! Especially as someone who usually hates the usual club scene. I felt swanky in a lounge like this. My only regret was I didn't get to try the crepes... there's always next time. A group of 5 of us trekked through the biting cold and over some mild cobblestone (in heels!) to get to this beautiful orange beacon beckoning us to the lounge.
I'm always happy when places do not have a cover charge since it's such a buzz kill especially if you want to hit up more than one location in a night. When we arrived a bit past 9PM and there wasn't an infamous line yet thankfully. Unlike when we left at 12:30am and people were waiting outside in the cold for enough people to leave to get in. We arrived to see only a couple seats by the window open and quickly snagged them. I agree that the drinks are pricey, but seems to match the overall ambiance. They offer bottle service and give preference to larger groups who order this option for seating at the couches. I think our group was displaced at some point, but we quickly found another set of couches that weren't overtaken by people with more disposable income than us. We had no desire to torture ourselves and actually go outside on the rooftop but I imagine that would be a much more tempting option in the warmer months. I can just picture watching the sun set over the water with the picturesque cityscape in the background. We just enjoyed the view shielded from the harsh winds behind the glass. The bathroom is not really well labeled but it's down a flight of stairs with interesting graffiti type artwork. Also did I mention it's unisex?
As the night continued on and the more mature crowd trickled out, we noticed that they subtly changed the music from relaxing background beats to songs with faster beats encouraging people to dance. They even revealed the giant disco ball! We witnessed a lot of fun and great dancing. I even attempted to dance a bit myself, but I really have no rhythm. I also enjoyed that I never felt like I was shouting to talk to my friends and the next day I thankfully did not have the sore throat syndrome. I can't wait to come back in the warmer months to check out the roof top deck and when they bring out...
Read moreI had one of the best experiences here in my entire life. I came here December of 2018 when the bottom half of the hotel was going through major renovation.
During this time of the year there were tons of Christmas trees around. While my friend & Fiancé were taking pictures. I was looking for a place to go to the bathroom. I found a dark stairway that eventually led to a cracked door. I opened the door, & on the other side was a hallway. I noticed a bathroom, but I wasn’t ready for what was on the other side. I walked into two toilet seats with no dividers that were fully marble on marble floor. There was a glass window from the ceiling to the floor that had a view of the city to enjoy while I sat to take care of business. As soon as I finished I dashed back down to let the others know my findings. They were astonished. So we kept exploring the hotel only to find the elevators were inactive without a room key. As we tried to exit we heard noises that sounded like a cleaning crew coming towards us. We came face to face with an employee. He said “What are you guys doing” we replied “trying to leave”. “Follow me & at the end of this hallway there is an elevator to the main entrance” he said. He walked away as we stepped through the hallway we could see the elevator down the hall. We noticed a door girl to the left also with faint music in the depths of the walls. I told my group “hey were already getting kicked out, why not try to get in the club?” My fiancé walked up to the door girl & asked “Is this the entrance in?” The door girl replied “yes, let me let you guys in”. As she opened the door a burst of music hit us!! Dim lights, great loud music with no words just house music, 360 views of the entire city from the inside, rooftop 10ft glass walls for another awesome view.
I will never forget the moment I had here. Also I’ll always be curious where to find the nearest bathroom because you never know what...
Read moreMy group and I waited in line for quite some time, which is normal on a Saturday night in NYC. However, once the group in front of us got in and it was our turn, the bouncers told us that they are full and will not accept anyone tonight, and that was the last group they were accepting. Our group asked if it's okay that we waited until there's an opening, we were willing to wait for a while, the bouncers said no and the line needs to keep moving, since they are absolutely full and are not going to accept anyone in at all. (Which made no sense.) So we asked why they won't just announce it to the whole line behind us that they are not accepting anyone in without reservations, they said "we don't have to and when everyone comes up we will say the same thing". Mind you, while this is happening, a person in our group walked down the entire line behind us and asked if anyone had a reservation, no one did. The bouncer started getting aggressive and started yelling at us telling us to never come back here again. Which was really unnecessary considering we only asked a simple question in a calm voice (Question was: If you aren't allowing anyone in, why aren't you announcing this to everyone behind us? Or are you not announcing this because you're hand picking who gets in?), but at this point it the conversation was escalated by the bouncers, and my group and I felt disrespected and it wasn't even worth giving this place any business. Once we left the line, the group behind us got in, even though they had no reservations. I don't get it.
Also I don't understand how this place allows their staff members to vape and blow smoke into guests face. If you wanna vape, fine do it on your break, but I personally don't prefer to have cotton candy smoke blown into my face while I'm waiting in the designated area and/or when I'm asking a normal question.
I remember when this place was at...
