Planet Fitness Carnesie located at 856 Remsen Avenue, Brooklyn NY,11236, is highly dishonest!

I was at that location April 15th 2023 where I cancelled my membership. The manager was there and claimed he did it for me. Come to discover that each month since then they have been removing membership frlee from my account. I call them today and was told that the membership was never canceled and that they cannot issue me a refund for all the months they have been removing fees, though the fault isnt mine and I have not set foot in that establishment or used their services since April 15th 2023.

They further advised that the only way cancelation can occur is for me to physically come in..again...to get it done and they will continue to remove money from my account until the cancelation is done. I am not physically in NY at this time and for the life of me I cannot understand why they just cannot do it on their end.

Why did I cancel in the first place? When I joined the gym I was told they had personal trainers. I started going in March 2023 and discovered they had none. I was advised by the manager that the last trainer no longer worked there and they would have someone new within a month.

I don't know how to use gym equipment so I was glad to have the personal trainer services to help. I decided to view YouTube tutorials in the interim and I would take my tripod with me and set it up and look at tutorials on my phone. April 15th I was advised by a staff member that tripods went against their policy...I explained i wasnt recording i was looking at a tutorial..she continued to say it didnt matter, tripods weren't allowed. I went downstairs where I found the manager, and told him why I was using the tripod and asked for an update regarding when the new trainer will start. He advised me then that they decided to no longer offer personal training services. I told him that was not communicated to me and wasn't what I was presented with as a benefit of joining the gym and I requested my membership be canceled....false advertising, not communicating with their customers.

I re-download their app to remove my banking information to avoid them taking more money out...come to find out, I am unable to alter or remove my banking information.

This is so grossly dishonest if you ask me and horrible business practices on their part and extremely poor attitude towards customer. I have sinced filed a complaint with the better business bureau, requested a stop payment from my bank and also filed a dispute with my bank for the prior charges and the current one. I have not stepped a foot in that gym since April 15th..the manager either is all out liar or plain dumb because all this time I am thinking the membership is canceled and enjoying a better experience at a new gym meanwhile they keep taking money outta my account. One thing for sure, I've now learned I need to check my bank statements each and every month..or I could have stopped this...

Planet Fitness has advantageously altered the general health of the community, within a six block radius of the 856 Remsen Avenue location, with a well furnished fitness centre. For decades, due to the ethnic change in the demographic composition of Canarsie, Brooklyn, the residents of Canarsie were not offered a fitness centre to exercise within. However, due to the construction of this most contemporary fitness centre, residents of Canarsie have an expansive location to exercise. The Planet Fitness on 856 Ramsen Avenue is so well equipped with treadmills, stair climbing machines, stationary bicycles and elliptical machines. The cavernous duplex design affords all members the pleasure of exercising without the discomfort of being too close to other members. As cavernous as the facility is, the air conditioning on both floors is always perfect. More importantly, the air intake and the air exchange system is quite adequate and the odor neutralizing filtration system is always in perfect working order; the facility always smells freshly cleaned. The lavatory and water closets are always clean, odor free and in ideal working condition. However, members of the facility often discard tissue paper directly onto the floor, quite upsetting. A particular gripe of mine is the lack of free weight plates available to the members who exercise exclusively with free weights for bench pressing; the purchase of at least one free weight plate rack is desperately needed in the space designated for the aforementioned. As correlated to dumbbells, the facility is well stocked. An additional gripe, employees and members of the facility are permitted to remove the free weight plates from the designated free weights area to the upper level, but the plates are never returned; most vexing indeed. One of the paramount attribute the 856 Remsen Avenue location possess is the vast car park afforded to all members at absolutely no cost! Also, the hours operation are so convenient for traveling executives who rely so heavily on Kennedy International Airport. I strongly recommend this distinctive location for its friendly atmosphere, duplex design, large lift, new equipment, well air conditioned air and, yes, it is truly a judgment free zone; everyone is made to...

Living in an era where everything is accessible by phone, internet and walking distance. One thing that differentiate one business to the next is their customer service and the ability to compete with their competitors. Sadly, this Planet Fitness has given up on quality care and customer service. The people at the front should all get fired literally all of them except for this kids Tray and the new girls there. Are you kidding me ? You guys had an awesome management staff who actively keep the facility clean and check on the machines to make sure they’re running. I took a picture of a machine who stopped working for over a month now. Three weeks in, I told the guy downstairs since no maintenance comes in to check on the machine and I saw him logging it in now it’s over a month and the machine still not fixed? And you or the owner wonder why sales are declining or why people talk about planet fitness ? Within walking distance there’s a Blink who seems a whole lot cleaner. I will cancel my black card and move. You guys wouldn’t dare give such treatment to a white community, because of lawsuit and shaming. How do you have a broken machine for over a month and as I’m watching people forcing themselves to use the machine half broken missing the entire knee pad protection and the leg. I work for a Bank and we strive for great clients satisfaction but I think you guys lost the essence of what customer service is. I took several pictures with different Timestamp and I will escalate it to whoever I have to. This must be fixed, and I don’t know who runs those franchise chains but they are pathetic and ghetto just by seeing who they recruit. It gets so bad in there the front reps, just blast the music in the facility and I can’t even concentrate or Y the music from my Bose EarPods. What happened to having a centralized music library with volume control, you just allow these 23 years old to blast whatever music they want with the volume maxed out ? A change must be done at this place and I will escalate until it’s resolved as this place needs to be resurrected from how it used to run...
